{"id":1027224,"date":"2026-08-27T10:44:54","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T10:44:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1027224\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T10:44:54","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T10:44:54","slug":"gilbert-accelerates-drinking-water-well-program-amid-colorado-river-uncertainty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1027224\/","title":{"rendered":"Gilbert accelerates drinking water well program amid Colorado River uncertainty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GILBERT, AZ \u2014 Gilbert says it&#8217;s preparing for <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gilbertaz.gov\/Home\/Components\/News\/News\/6907\/352\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">less water <\/a>from the Colorado river.<\/p>\n<p>The town says it anticipates a 20% cut to its Colorado River supply starting in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>The town says Colorado River water currently makes up about 41% of Gilbert&#8217;s supply.<\/p>\n<p>To build up its backup supply, the town is spending about $116 million on <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gilbertaz.gov\/Home\/Components\/News\/News\/6909\/17\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">eight new drinking water wells<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Five have completed construction, and all eight are expected to be complete by the middle of next year.<\/p>\n<p>Each well can provide about 2 million gallons of water a day.<\/p>\n<p>Watch the video in the player above for an inside look at how Gilbert is preparing for less water from the Colorado River.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"GILBERT, AZ \u2014 Gilbert says it&#8217;s preparing for less water from the Colorado river.
