State filings reveal plans are underway for a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tomthumb.com\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Tom Thumb<\/a> to be built in the area\u2014with construction set to begin by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The Albertsons-owned company hasn&#8217;t announced a new location but a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tdlr.texas.gov\/TABS\/Search\/Project\/TABS2026028570\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">permit<\/a> was filed on Monday with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for a new Tom Thumb grocery store to be built in north Fort Worth at 6250 West Bailey Boswell Rd.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The TDLR filing provides limited details about the store\u2019s design, but lists the supermarket at approximately 59,951 square feet. Construction is slated to begin in December and be completed within one year. The scope of work includes an interior tenant fit-out for a Tom Thumb Grocery with a bakery, deli, meat department and sales department\u2014all estimated to cost $4.8 million. But that doesn&#8217;t indicate an official opening date.<\/p>\n<p>When Chron inquired about the permit filing and the store&#8217;s anticipated opening date, a spokesperson for Tom Thumb said the company did not have additional details to share at this time.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Thumbs, which was founded in Dallas in 1948, has 70 stores across Texas, according to the company&#8217;s website. Once open, this new location would be the fourth in Fort Worth\u2014and the latest move for the decades-old chain that&#8217;s been expanding its presence in the state.<\/p>\n<p>In March, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chron.com\/culture\/article\/tom-thumb-texas-22070869.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Chron<\/a> reported that Tom Thumb had opened its third of four new locations in the North Texas area within six months, with another in the works.\u00a0 According to Fort Worth Report, the new Tom Thumb will anchor a three-building project called Boat Club Landing, which will reportedly include two other retail buildings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Texas-born grocery chain is adding another store to its Dallas-Fort Worth market.
