Restrictions extend from the ground to 17,999 feet, <a href=\"https:\/\/tfr.faa.gov\/tfr3\/?page=detail_6_8531\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">according to the FAA notice.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A long list of aviation activities is prohibited during that window, including drones, flight training, sightseeing operations, banner towing, skydiving, glider operations and crop dusting.<\/p>\n<p>Commercial airlines aren&#8217;t necessarily grounded. Certain regularly scheduled passenger and cargo flights can continue provided they meet security requirements laid out in the restriction.<\/p>\n<p>The biggest effects appear likely around Hobby and southeast Houston. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbaa.com\/aircraft-operations\/airspace\/alerts\/notams-and-tfrs\/vip-91-141-tfr-notam-impact-statements\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">The National Business Aviation Association said<\/a> general aviation operations will be prohibited at William P. Hobby Airport, Ellington Airport and La Porte Municipal Airport from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. Thursday and again from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The restrictions coincide with Trump&#8217;s scheduled Houston visit to Johnson Space Center,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/news-release\/nasas-artemis-ii-crew-set-to-receive-congressional-space-medal-of-honor\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\"> where NASA announced<\/a> he will award the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to the four members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chron.com\/culture\/article\/artemis-2-toilet-malfunction-houston-22185840.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Artemis II crew<\/a>: NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, along with Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&#8217;s Houston trip also includes politics. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/08\/27\/us\/politics\/trump-texas-senate-fund-raiser.html\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">The New York Times reported<\/a> Thursday the Republican National Committee is holding a Houston fundraiser for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is running for U.S. Senate against Democrat James Talarico.
