JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 Jacksonville residents will get a chance to sit down with local law enforcement and legal experts next week and ask questions about public safety, their rights and situations they may face with police.<\/p>\n
The Police & The People Forum and Dinner is happening Thursday, September 3, at the Farah & Farah Performance Studio in Jacksonville.<\/p>\n
Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters and attorney Stephen G. Daniels will be part of the discussion, along with other community panelists.<\/p>\n
Shawn Knight, afternoon host on WOKV sister station HOT 106.5<\/a>, says people are encouraged to come with questions and concerns about what they are seeing in their communities.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a perfect opportunity for you to come out and voice your opinion, voice your concerns and get the answers that you want and get the answers that you need,\u201d Knight said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Getting police and the community in the same room<\/p>\n The idea is pretty simple: get people in the same room, talk about some of the issues happening in Jacksonville and give residents a chance to hear directly from law enforcement.<\/p>\n Knight said the conversation is not about pointing fingers or placing blame.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are all coming together to talk and to find solutions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Some of the topics will include DUI offenses, driving with a suspended license and family disputes that get out of control.
