He and his wife, actor Alison  Brie, stay in bed all day, watch four movies and Postmate every single meal. But for the sake of Sunday Funday, the actor, director and screenwriter gave us a hypothetical Sunday where they actually leave their house.<\/p>\n<p>      <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/topic\/sunday-funday\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">           <img class=\"image\" alt=\"Sunday Funday infobox logo with colorful spot illustrations\"   width=\"510\" height=\"340\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1768562772_959_.png\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>    <\/a>        <\/p>\n<p class=\"infobox-description\">In Sunday Funday, L.A. people give us a play-by-play of their ideal Sunday around town. Find ideas and inspiration on where to go, what to eat and how to enjoy life on the weekends.<\/p>\n<p>The couple have lived in Los Feliz since 2012 and have bounced around to a few different spots in the neighborhood during that time. \u201cWe love that there are certain pockets that feel tucked away in nature where you don\u2019t feel the buzz of the city,\u201d Franco says, \u201cbut when you\u2019re in the mood for a great meal or a night out, you\u2019re still only a five-minute drive from all the action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Franco and Brie have collaborated on multiple projects, including the horror film \u201cTogether\u201d (where they were the two leads) and the rom-com \u201cSomebody That I Used to Know\u201d (which he directed, she starred in and they co-wrote). Up next, Franco will roll solo as an actor and producer of the dark action comedy \u201cIdiots,\u201d out in theaters on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday remains a day that he and Brie dedicate to being with each other. \u201cNo matter what else is happening in our lives or what we have coming up for that following week, we know we\u2019re going to be together on Sunday,\u201d Franco says. \u201cLet\u2019s spend the whole day together, let\u2019s be connected, and it just resets us in a nice way for the week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This interview has been lightly edited and condensed for length and clarity.<\/p>\n<p>              <img class=\"image\" alt=\"\"  width=\"72\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1787921360_103_.png\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>        <\/p>\n<p><b>7:30 a.m.: Coffee and <\/b><b>doughnuts<\/b> <\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll set my alarm so I can roll out of bed and get to <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.marucoffee.com\/?srsltid=AfmBOooU-QOTd1Ifp3YQFbrr4GlGRZPbF5EJ-cxI0_HtuTtVD9ZrLDKS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>Maru Coffee<\/b><\/a> right as it opens in an attempt to avoid the insane line that will inevitably snake down the entirety of Hillhurst Avenue. If I don\u2019t want to wait in line, I\u2019ll head to <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/dayglow.coffee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>Dayglow<\/b> <\/a>in Silver Lake where some of my favorite baristas are generous enough to let me try whatever new concoction they\u2019re experimenting with. But no matter where I end up, I\u2019ll typically grab a cold brew for myself and an iced oat cappuccino for my wife.<\/p>\n<p>If I\u2019m feeling extra magnanimous, I\u2019ll then drive to <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.proofbakery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>Proof Bakery<\/b><\/a> in Atwater Village for our favorite croissants, or I\u2019ll go all the way to <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/farmersmarketla.com\/merchants\/bobs-coffee-and-doughnuts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>Bob\u2019s Donuts<\/b><\/a> at the <b>Farmer<\/b><b>s Market at the Grove<\/b> and grab a couple of old-fashioned glazed.<\/p>\n<p>Doughnuts on Sunday is a very important ritual for us. I legitimately think it\u2019s a big reason our marriage has been so successful. We work hard and then we get to look forward to sharing something decadent at the end of each week.<\/p>\n<p>              <img class=\"image\" alt=\"\"  width=\"70\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1787921360_57_.png\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>        <\/p>\n<p><b>11 a.m.: First movie of the day<\/b><\/p>\n<p>After digesting our pastries, we will catch a late-morning movie at the <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.americancinematheque.com\/about\/theatres\/los-feliz-theatre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>Los Feliz 3<\/b><\/a>, <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vistatheaterhollywood.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>the Vista<\/b><\/a> or the <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.landmarktheatres.com\/our-locations\/g01si-landmark-theatres-sunset\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>Landmark Sunset<\/b><\/a>. When we get to the movie theater, Alison  will ask whether we should get a small or large popcorn. I always reply, \u2018Get the small. I don\u2019t want any. I\u2019m just going to have Red Vines.\u2019 Inevitably, I\u2019ll finish my Red Vines before the movie has even started and then Alison will begrudgingly allow me to have a few handfuls of her popcorn, but she is not happy about it. I\u2019m not exaggerating when I say this happens every single time we go to the movies.<\/p>\n<p>              <img class=\"image\" alt=\"\"  width=\"38\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1753438514_434_\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>        <\/p>\n<p><b>1:30 p.m.: Strictly vintage<\/b><\/p>\n<p>After the movie, we might pop by <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/denimrevival.us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>Denim Revival<\/b><\/a> in West Hollywood, which has the best vintage shopping in town. It\u2019s a small curated collection, but if you\u2019re into vintage Levi\u2019s and old band T-shirts, this is your spot. My wife typically gets bored quickly in a vintage clothing store, but when I find her the perfect-fitting Tom Petty or John Lennon shirt, she perks right up.<\/p>\n<p>Most of what\u2019s in my closet is vintage. I can\u2019t think of a T-shirt that I\u2019ve worn in the past handful of years that wasn\u2019t a vintage T-shirt. I have a pretty good collection at this point. I\u2019m hitting all the different angles where I have anything from Beastie Boys to Jimi Hendrix to Britney Spears to Hansen.<\/p>\n<p>I will definitely scour eBay or Grailed to find the perfect white T-shirt, which I have 10 of already, but it\u2019s an endless search to expand that collection.<\/p>\n<p>              <img class=\"image\" alt=\"\"  width=\"40\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1766171001_951_\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>        <\/p>\n<p><b>3 p.m.: Big Sur in L.A.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>If we are in the mood for a pre-dinner snack, we\u2019ll pop by <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/thetrailscafe\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>the Trails<\/b><\/a> cafe [in Griffith Park] for their famous egg in a basket, which is their take on the classic breakfast dish, toad in a hole. We\u2019ll sit at Trails\u2019 wooden benches surrounded by nature where it almost feels like we\u2019re not in LA. It\u2019s the closest we can get to Big Sur in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>We could sneak in a hike. We\u2019ll sometimes start at an entrance across from the Greek Theatre, which will loop us all the way around past the [Griffith] Observatory and back to the Greek. We feel very fortunate that we live close to some very nice hikes in L.A., and so we definitely try to take advantage of that.<\/p>\n<p><b>5 p.m.: Oysters, always<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Even though we just ate, we are already thinking about where we should go for dinner. We like a very early dinner that verges on being a very late lunch. We\u2019ll likely end up at <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foundoyster.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>Found Oyster<\/b><\/a>. We\u2019ll order a dozen oysters, a scallop tostada and a little steak frites if we\u2019re feeling cheeky.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been an oyster person for as long as I can remember. I\u2019m such an oyster person that I\u2019ve actually gotten food poisoning twice in the past two years from oysters and I will not let that stop me. In both of those instances, I was begging for death \u2014 death would be better than whatever I was going through \u2014 and then a week and a half later I\u2019m back fiending for more. But I\u2019m not saying I got food poisoning from Found. I just want to make that clear.<\/p>\n<p>              <img class=\"image\" alt=\"\"  width=\"46\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1766171003_708_\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>        <\/p>\n<p><b>7:30 p.m.: Time for another movie<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The good thing about an early dinner is that you can be home and in bed by 7:30 p.m., where there\u2019s still enough time to sneak in at least one more movie and some dessert.<\/p>\n<p>We always try to have a pint of ice cream in our freezer from <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/henryssecret.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>Henry\u2019s Secret<\/b><\/a>, which you can only order online for the time being. This is the guy who was <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/food\/story\/2019-08-26\/antico-italian-restaurant-review-lucas-peterson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">making ice cream at <b>Antico Nuovo<\/b><\/a> for many years, which was always our favorite ice cream in L.A. And now he\u2019s got his own little underground operation.<\/p>\n<p>My wife is a massive [movie] re-watcher. She has seen \u201cThe American President\u201d and \u201cThe Prestige\u201d 150 times each, but I\u2019ll always push to watch some hidden gem that\u2019s been on our list for the past decade. She\u2019s sometimes hesitant, then almost every time the movie finishes and she says, \u201cI loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not on <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Letterboxd<\/a>. I have lists of movies that we want to watch in my Notes app on my phone. There are certain times where the list really grows, but we\u2019ll knock them off pretty quickly because we really do try to watch one movie a night. When you\u2019re doing that, you\u2019re watching seven plus movies [a week] because on Sunday we\u2019re watching multiple movies.<\/p>\n<p>              <img class=\"image\" alt=\"\"  width=\"79\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1768562773_487_.png\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>        <\/p>\n<p><b>10 p.m.: Early bedtime<\/b><\/p>\n<p>We go to bed relatively early.
