31-year-old Jesus Acosta<\/a>, who they say shot and killed a restaurant worker in Brownsville early Sunday and a bodega customer in the Bronx on Tuesday.<\/p>\nThe restaurant, American Best Wings & Pizza, was closed Thursday, with gates covering the storefront. A sign outside honors the life of Md Yousof, who worked behind the counter.<\/p>\n
Police said a gunman entered the restaurant shortly after midnight Sunday and shot Yousof in the head. The restaurant’s owner said the suspect also stole the week’s sales.<\/p>\n
Shekh Rasel, a co-owner of the restaurant and a friend of Yousof, said he was stunned by the killing.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was shocked speechless,\u201d Rasel said.<\/p>\n
Rasel described Yousof as a well-liked employee who had built relationships with customers.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe’s a very kind person, very warm hearted, very welcoming, almost every single customer likes him,\u201d Rasel said.<\/p>\n
Rasel said Yousof was the sole provider for his family in Bangladesh, including his wife, two daughters and parents.<\/p>\n
\u201cTwo daughter and wife and also dad and mom back home, so because he’s the only sole provider, I don’t know how they will survive afterwards. We try to help them from our end,\u201d Rasel said.<\/p>\n
The restaurant has started a fundraising campaign to help Yousof’s family and pay to return his body to Bangladesh.<\/p>\n
Police said Acosta is also accused of a robbery and shooting at a Bronx bodega Tuesday. Investigators said he shot customer Trayvon Shuler in the chest before emptying the cash register. Shuler died from his injuries.<\/p>\n
The shootings have left some residents in Brownsville and the Bronx concerned that the suspect remains at large.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel so frustrated and so disgusted. They have advanced technology almost everywhere. They should have [caught] the guy that very day,\u201d one resident said.<\/p>\n
The United Bodegas of America is also offering an additional $10,000 reward for information leading to Acosta\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n
