Chris Gotterup has gone from strength to strength on the PGA Tour in 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gotterup burst onto the scene in July last year, winning the Genesis Scottish Open after holding off Rory McIlroy and Wyndham Clark.<\/p>\n

Ever since then, the 27-year-old has been one of the best golfers in the world.<\/p>\n

Chris Gotterup<\/a> has won three times on the PGA Tour<\/a> this season, and he has now reached a level where he is capable of winning any tournament he enters.<\/p>\n

Gotterup is different from every other player<\/a> at the highest level of the game, given his incredibly unique setup and swing.<\/p>\n

And that is one reason why he is so popular with the everyday golf fan.<\/p>\n

Gotterup was pushing hard to make the Ryder Cup<\/a> last year, but he didn\u2019t quite make the team in the end.<\/p>\n

The five-time PGA Tour winner is desperate to make up for that by forcing his way onto the Presidents Cup<\/a> team this year.<\/p>\n

Chris Gotterup says whether he would\u2019ve picked himself for the US Ryder Cup<\/p>\n

Gotterup spoke to reporters after shooting a six-under 64 at the Tour Championship on Thursday.<\/p>\n

He was asked about the pressure of trying to make the Presidents Cup team this year compared to last year when he was in the mix for Ryder Cup selection.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think having last year helped for this year just knowing that like you\u2019re never kind of safe,\u201c Gotterup replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think last year I was like, all right, I\u2019m in a good spot. Not that I ever thought I was going to be on the team until the end of the year, but I really didn\u2019t play well in the playoffs and probably wouldn\u2019t have picked myself if I was the captain.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like this year I\u2019ve been just trying to focus on my game and not make anything bigger than what it is. Obviously I think my playoffs have been pretty good so far, especially compared to last year. If I can keep that up, I should be in good shape hopefully.\u201c<\/p>\n

Keegan Bradley decided against picking Gotterup in the end, and that seems like a massive mistake.<\/p>\n

The five-time PGA Tour winner\u2019s game would have been ideally suited to Bethpage Black, and he seems like the kind of character who would have thrived under the Ryder Cup pressure.<\/p>\n

Chris Gotterup on improvements he\u2019s made this year<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old was asked by one reporter on Thursday what part of his game he believes is stronger this year than it was in 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like my putting has gotten a lot better this year,\u201c Gotterup admitted.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve driven the ball nice this year. Last year I started off driving it poorly and then started driving it nice at the end of the year. <\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like just little things like wedges I\u2019ve gotten better, but I still have room to improve for sure.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust par-5 scoring, I\u2019ve added clubs that maybe give me more versatility that I didn\u2019t have before. <\/p>\n

\u201cAll that said, I think when I get my stats report at the end of the year, I\u2019ll still have plenty of stuff to work on.\u201c<\/p>\n
