{"id":1030324,"date":"2026-08-29T05:00:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T05:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1030324\/"},"modified":"2026-08-29T05:00:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T05:00:19","slug":"four-baby-goats-test-positive-for-rabies-at-nc-petting-zoo-wral-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1030324\/","title":{"rendered":"Four baby goats test positive for rabies at NC petting zoo :: WRAL.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. &#8211;\u00a0The Davidson County Health Department is warning of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wxii12.com\/article\/lexington-rabies-exposure-petting-zoo-goats\/73557180\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">potential rabies exposure<\/a> connected to a traveling petting zoo at a community event earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Health officials said four goats that were part of the petting zoo at the Community Connections event at Breeden Amphitheater in Lexington on Aug. 1 tested positive for rabies.<\/p>\n<p>The health department said anyone who attended the event and held a baby goat may have been exposed and should contact the department for a risk assessment.<\/p>\n<p>Farm Adventures, the traveling petting zoo that organized the event, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/people\/Farm-Adventures\/61582810971161\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said the goats were euthanized to prevent any further spread of the virus<\/a>. The zoo said the goats were bitten by a skunk, which led to the rabies diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe affected animals, our four precious baby goats, have been euthanized to prevent further spread,\u201d the zoo said in a Facebook post. \u201cWe will be closely monitoring our remaining animals under the guidelines provided by health officials.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The goats&#8217; names were Molly, Maggie, Cow and Uno.
