President Trump accused Kathy Hochul of favoring Canada over the US Friday after Democratic New York governor vowed not to recognize \u201cLake America\u201d<\/a> as the new name for Lake Ontario.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernor Kathy Hochul is for Canada,\u201d Trump fumed on Truth Social<\/a>, \u201ca Country that has been ripping off New York State for years, especially under her Administration, instead of the good \u2018ol USA.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cCan you imagine her saying that she won\u2019t respect or acknowledge LAKE AMERICA,\u201d the president continued. \u201cThat\u2019s why the Dumocrats are so bad for our Country.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Trump signed documents ordering that Lake Ontario<\/a> be renamed \u201cLake America\u201d \u2013 effective immediately \u2013 amid a trade war with Canada<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The lake has roughly 250 miles of shoreline along the northern portion of the Empire State.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hochul took to X<\/a> shortly after Trump signed the Lake America proclamation, asserting that \u201cNew York won\u2019t be calling it that.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a separate Truth Social post<\/a>, Trump called the governor \u201cstupid\u201d and said Canada specifically targets her state with tariffs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re aiming at her because they consider her Weak and Ineffective \u2014 Not nice!\u201d the president argued.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe doesn\u2019t want us to use the name, \u2018Lake America,\u2019 she\u2019d rather have Canada get a win,\u201d Trump continued. Adding that Canada treats New York like \u201cgarbage.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Trump concluded both social media posts by urging New Yorkers to vote for Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman<\/a> in November.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s an \u2018animal,\u2019 he fights like hell, he doesn\u2019t let anyone else win,\u201d Trump said of Blakeman. \u201cHe\u2019s for the people. He\u2019s smart and cunning, and will Lower your Taxes, and Stop Crime.\u201d<\/p>\n
