Disturbing surveillance video captured a shirtless man ransacking a River North soul food restaurant overnight, leaving a trail of blood that ultimately led to his arrest. <\/p>\n
In the early hours of Friday morning, Chicago police arrested a man outside Soul Vibez at 226 W. Chicago Ave. The man was accused of punching out the window of the storefront and causing extensive damage inside.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything happened so fast,\u201d said owner Laricia Baker, who was alerted around 2 a.m. to her restaurant\u2019s alarm going off.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe got a fire extinguisher, just bashing the restaurant and trashing the place,\u201d Baker said. \u201cHe came in almost naked. He punched the front door with his hand, he of course cut himself so there was blood everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n
Surveillance video showed the man in the business for about five minutes, at one point throwing the fire extinguisher. Baker said police arrested him outside after following a trail of blood.<\/p>\n
The staff at Soul Vibez spent all day Friday cleaning up and vowed to re-open by dinner. They serve authentic soul food and cocktails, with another location also in River North. <\/p>\n
Baker said this marks the third-time one of her\u00a0restaurants has been broken into recently.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re grateful to be open back and operating,\u201d said Baker. \u201cThis won\u2019t get us down, it won\u2019t defeat us, we\u2019re here. We\u2019re here to stay.\u201d<\/p>\n
