Robert \u201cBob\u201d Marvin Hughitt Sr., 83, passed to glory on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026 in Fort Worth. Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 1, 2026 in our Memorial Suite C at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3344 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth. Funeral: 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026 at the Independence at Greenwood Mausoleum, 3210 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth followed by interment at Greenwood Memorial Park, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth. Robert was born on July 31, 1943 in Fort Worth,to Nellie and Charles Hughitt. He was the third of eleven children. At fourteen years old, Robert met his loving and devout wife. On July 4, 1958, he was introduced to Joyce at her birthday party. The two went on to have their first date on Christmas Day that same year, where they drove around Newark in a \u201957 Chevy Convertible. Exactly a year after they met, on Joyce\u2019s fifteenth birthday, Robert gave her an engagement ring. They were married just over two months later on a Wednesday night, Sept. 24, 1959. For just short of 68 years, until his final breath, Robert lived a life completely devoted to Joyce. They went on to have a son and a daughter who gave them three granddaughters, a great granddaughter and a great grandson, and most recently, a great-great grandson who was named after him. Robert spent his early adult years working many jobs and even got his real estate license. He eventually decided to go to the Fort Worth Fire Academy, and graduated on April 9, 1971 in a class of 8 firemen. At 27 years old, he was hired on at the Fort Worth Fire Department where he went on to serve for 28 years. In 1999, at 55 years old, Robert retired as Battalion Chief of Station 30, District 5. He believed that his biggest accomplishment of his career was that he never got any of his men severely injured or killed. In retirement, Robert enjoyed traveling with friends and family to hunt and camp. He bought himself a guitar as a retirement gift that he worked very hard to learn to play. Much of his time was also spent surrounded by his loved ones who will all miss him dearly. Robert is preceded in death by his mother (Nellie Hughitt), father (Charles Hughitt), his mother in-law (Mary Rich), father in-law (Roy Rich), his brother (Melvin Hughitt) and wife (Doris Hughitt), brother (Bill Hughitt), and sister (Mary Dater). Robert is survived by the love of his life Joyce Hughitt; son, (Robby Hughitt) and wife, (Amy Byrd Hughitt); granddaughter, (Mindi Hughitt Martin) and husband, (Bobby Martin); great grandchildren, KayZee Martin, Easton (Eugene) Martin; great-great grandson and namesake, Townesend Hughitt Gray, and among many other loved family and friends.
