{"id":1031652,"date":"2026-08-29T20:41:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T20:41:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1031652\/"},"modified":"2026-08-29T20:41:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T20:41:15","slug":"benjamin-netanyahu-calls-out-settler-attack-on-palestinian-village-in-west-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1031652\/","title":{"rendered":"Benjamin Netanyahu calls out settler attack on Palestinian village in West Bank"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Settlers barricaded themselves inside a Palestinian house in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/defense-news\/article-905583\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kusra<\/a> on Saturday, where residents were present before IDF forces arrived to forcibly remove the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/crime-in-israel\/article-895610\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">rioters<\/a> from the house.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The IDF stated that, following reports of the riots, it dispatched troops along with Border Police officers to the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The army added that it also confiscated vehicles belonging to the rioters, which are suspected of being used to access the area. These vehicles, along with additional evidence collected at the scene by Israeli security forces, are being transferred to the West Bank District of the Israel Police as part of an ongoing investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Palestinians reported that a total of eight people were injured during stone-throwing altercations with the rioters, some of whom were evacuated for medical treatment by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/red-crescent\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Red Crescent<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">According to Israeli media, no arrests were made after the IDF arrived in the area, with the settlers leaving the village outskirts after being ordered by the military to do so.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Footage showing extremist settlers running in the West Bank village of Kusra, August 12, 2026.\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"822\" height=\"829\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/images.jpost.com\/image\/upload\/f_auto,fl_lossy\/c_fill,g_faces:center,h_537,w_822\/733786\"\/>Footage showing extremist settlers running in the West Bank village of Kusra, August 12, 2026. (credit: screenshot\/section 27a copyright act)<\/p>\n<p>According to a Walla report, the IDF and Border Police continue to maintain a presence in the Kusra area due to concerns that the rioters might attempt to return.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Netanyahu condemns the violence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned violence committed by dozens of settler rioters who gathered on the outskirts of the village of Kusra in the West Bank on Saturday, igniting violent clashes with the local residents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cI strongly condemn the criminal acts of violence committed in the villages of Kusra and Jalud by a handful of rioters who violate the law, cause enormous injustice to the law-abiding settler public, hinder the IDF in fulfilling its missions, and harm<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Israel\u2019s standing in the world,\u201d Netanyahu said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Netanyahu added that security forces had ended the incident \u201cin a short time\u201d and confiscated three vehicles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The IDF, the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), and the police are conducting an investigation, Netanyahu said, adding that he expected the rioters to be arrested and brought to justice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Yashar party leader Gadi Eisenkot also issued a response to the Kusra violence in a post to X\/Twitter on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cThe escalating anarchy of a violent minority and the loss of control over them in Judea and Samaria represent a security, leadership, political, and ethical disgrace that does not reflect the overwhelming majority of Israeli citizens, and it is a deviation from the IDF\u2019s primary mission,\u201d Eisenkot asserted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Eisenkot went on in his statement to assign responsibility for the violence in Kusra and the broader issues related to the increase in violence in the West Bank to Netanyahu, saying that \u201cthis is the result of a governmental policy led by Netanyahu and his coalition partners, in which they knowingly abandon Israel\u2019s national interest out of embarrassingly weak and dangerous political considerations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kusra and a pattern of extremist behavior\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Earlier this month, similar altercations took place when dozens of settlers arrived in the Kusra area and were seen vandalizing Palestinian homes, dismantling fences, blocking roads, and surrounding the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">IDF forces were summoned to the scene and worked to evacuate the settlers, who then clashed with the soldiers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Following the incident, settler leaders, including the heads of the Yesha Council and the Beit El Council, publicly condemned the violence, warning that it was severely damaging to both Israel and the settlement movement.<\/p>\n<p>Yisrael Ganz, chairman of the Yesha Council and head of the Binyamin Regional Council, said there was no justification for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/defense-news\/article-906195\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">violence against Palestinians<\/a> or Israeli security forces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cThe events in Kusra are serious and are not our way,\u201d Ganz said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cThere is no place for privately deciding to establish a hilltop outpost in the yard of a house, even when it is an illegal house or there is an attempt to take control of the area.
