Pete Davidson<\/a> is detailing his experience on indie film<\/a> sets\u2026and he\u2019s not totally a fan. The \u201cSNL\u201d alum said during \u201cHot Ones\u201d in the below video that \u201cthere\u2019s not anything glamorous\u201d about starring in independent films. <\/p>\n

He recently appeared in TIFF 2024 indie crime comedy<\/a> \u201cRiff Raff<\/a>\u201d alongside Jennifer Coolidge, Ed Harris, Gabrielle Union, Lewis Pullman, Michael Angelo Corvino, and Davidson\u2019s own personal icon, Bill Murray<\/a>. Davidson\u00a0and Murray played two gangsters who are hunting down an ex-criminal family over the holidays. Yet despite the star-studded cast, \u201cRiff Raff\u201d wasn\u2019t a \u201ccomfortable\u201d experience. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe movie we did \u2014 it\u2019s a tough one because it\u2019s an indie, so there\u2019s no budget and there\u2019s not anything glamorous about it,\u201d Davidson said. \u201cNo one makes money, no one\u2019s comfortable, it\u2019s strictly like for the art.\u201d <\/p>\n

Adding of working with Murray, Davidson said, \u201cBut yeah, he was like kind of captain and kind of calming me down\u2026He\u2019s also my dad\u2019s favorite actor so that was a cool thing. My dad\u2019s favorite movie was\u00a0\u2018Stripes,\u2019 so I got to tell him that and that was really cool for me. [\u2026] He\u2019s a total pro, man.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Home\u201d star<\/a> further reflected on being alongside some of his favorite fellow comedians: Jim Carrey hosted the \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d episode where Davidson\u2019s \u201cfirst real sketch\u201d aired. \u201cI was so excited because he\u2019s Jim Carrey, one of the legends\u2026The sketch bombed to high heavens\u2026 and it\u2019s online if you want to watch a 20-year-old crumble with his idol,\u201d Davidson quipped. <\/p>\n

And a run-in with Dave Chappelle led to one of Davidson\u2019s many now-removed tattoos. \u201cI\u2019ve never admitted this because it\u2019s so humiliating, but when I was like 20, at a comedy club \u2014 it might have been the Knitting Factory when Hannibal Buress used to run it \u2014 and I did a set, I was like 19 or 20, and Chappelle was in the corner,\u201d he said. \u201cThis was before he was back, so seeing him was like crazy, going \u2018What the fuck?\u2019 And I got off stage and he was like, \u2018I watched your whole set \u2014 it was really good,\u2019 and I was like, \u2018Oh, thanks.\u2019 I was like, \u2018You know, how do you keep coming up with new stuff? I\u2019m working on new stuff and it\u2019s like difficult,\u2019 and he goes, \u2018Jokes come and go, but swag is forever.\u2019 \u2026 And guess who got that tattooed on his chest? I covered it with\u00a0\u2018Jaws\u2019\u00a0because I needed something huge to black it out. I just put a giant shark over it. That\u2019s pretty bad, dude \u2013 but he was like my idol. He still is, but that\u2019s so dumb. I could\u2019ve just told people he said that to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davidson recently starred alongside yet another legendary comedic actor, Eddie Murphy, in Amazon heist comedy \u201cThe Pickup.\u201d Davidson told Extra<\/a> that the film came at the ideal time. \u201cI felt like my dad was looking out for me,\u201d Davidson said about his late father who died in the 9\/11 attacks. \u201cI was in a rough patch and I was like, \u2018Alright. Here we go. It\u2019s not over.\u2019 It was a godsend.
