ST. MARYS, Ga. \u2014 A disabled St. Marys woman says she was attacked in her apartment after a woman came up to her door and smacked her with a tree branch.<\/p>\n
Sarah Crase says she was in the middle of a work call Tuesday morning with about 20 of her coworkers when she heard a knock on her door.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnlocked the door, opened the door,\u201d Crase said. \u201cNext thing, \u2018WHAM,\u2019 right across my face on the right side.\u201d<\/p>\n
Crase says a blonde woman dressed in all black with a ski mask whacked her with a tree branch before forcing her way into the apartment.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe got behind me and took both of her arms around my neck as tight as she could, choking me,\u201d Crase said. \u201cNext thing I know, I fall to the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her coworkers told her they could hear her screaming throughout the attack, Crase says.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m screaming for help, 911, \u2018fire,\u2019 anything to get someone\u2019s attention.\u201d<\/p>\n
Finally, she says a maintenance worker stepped in and pulled the woman off her.<\/p>\n

I blink my eye, my eye hurts,\u201d Crase said. \u201cMy 17-year-old had to give me a shower yesterday because I couldn\u2019t even pick my arms up over my head. She had to wash my hair.\u201d<\/p>\n Amanda Ruth Sage, 33, was arrested and charged with battery the same day.<\/p>\n Camden County Sheriff\u2019s Office records show that she\u2019s from Jacksonville and has a lengthy criminal record.<\/p>\n Crase says employees at her apartment complex told her that Sage had been staying with another resident, but isn\u2019t technically a resident herself. They also told her she\u2019s been trespassed from the property.<\/p>\n Still, Crase says she hasn\u2019t felt safe since the attack, and that she\u2019s constantly looking over her shoulder.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t even go outside to smoke a cigarette,\u201d Crase said. \u201cI can\u2019t go check my mail. I can\u2019t walk my dog\u2026 I\u2019m afraid to be in this house by myself.\u201d<\/p>\n Now, Crase wants to make sure Sage is charged with attempted murder, not just battery.<\/p>\n \u201cThe woman tried to kill me,\u201d Crase said. \u201cI keep seeing it over and over. I\u2019m having nightmares at night now.\u201d<\/p>\n Action News Jax reached out to the Camden County Sheriff\u2019s Office to receive an up-to-date mugshot and learn if additional charges related to this attack are a possibility.
