{"id":103418,"date":"2025-07-30T00:24:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T00:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/103418\/"},"modified":"2025-07-30T00:24:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T00:24:10","slug":"seth-meyers-worries-for-the-future-of-his-late-night-show-because-of-ever-changing-tv-ecosystem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/103418\/","title":{"rendered":"Seth Meyers worries for the future of his late night show because of ever-changing TV \u2018ecosystem\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">When it comes to late-night television, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/10\/30\/entertainment\/video\/the-lead-seth-meyers-comedy-special-dad-family-jokes-dad-man-walking-jake-tapper?cid=external-feeds_iluminar_yahoo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Seth Meyers;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Seth Meyers<\/a> knows the future is largely out of your control.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Meyers, who has hosted \u201cLate Night\u201d on NBC for over a decade, spoke on this week\u2019s episode of the <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/seth-meyers-returns-again\/id1345682353?i=1000718073910\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:\u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcast;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">\u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcast<\/a> about dealing with the uncertainty that comes with hosting a program.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThere is this weird thing that I feel like I shifted from fearing that I wouldn\u2019t be good enough and now my fear is weirdly more outside of my control, which is (that) just at some point the ecosystem might not support it,\u201d Meyers told hosts Dax Shepard and Monica Padman. \u201cI guess that\u2019s better than thinking it\u2019s your fault, but it is weird to not feel any control over it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Meyers said his big takeaway from his experience on the late-night program is just to \u201cshow up and do the work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThat\u2019s the only part they\u2019re paying you to do, that\u2019s the only part you\u2019re good at,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Meyers acknowledged that while the TV business has evolved since his show debuted, he\u2019s grateful that \u201cat least I got in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThe world knows Seth Meyers in a way that I\u2019m happy with. I\u2019ve taken my opportunity to build a thing,\u201d he said. \u201cI know what it means and I think other people know what it means. So I\u2019m happy about that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Meyers did not address the recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/07\/17\/media\/cbs-cancels-stephen-colbert?cid=external-feeds_iluminar_yahoo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:cancellation;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">cancellation<\/a> of \u201cThe Late Show with Stephen Colbert\u201d during the podcast, but it is not clear if the conversation was recorded prior to the news.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">CNN has reached out to a representative for Shepard for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In a Story posted to Instagram after Colbert\u2019s show was cancelled, Meyers called him a \u201cgreat\u201d comedian and host and \u201can even better person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI\u2019m going to miss having him on TV every night. but I\u2019m excited he can no longer use the excuse that he\u2019s \u2018too busy to hang out\u2019 with me,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Earlier this month, CBS announced the network was cancelling \u201cThe Late Show\u201d citing financial reasons but the move drew much criticism and speculation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Colbert has long been an outspoken critic of Trump and has been making jokes about CBS\u2019s motives for axing his show since it happened.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The show\u2019s cancellation came weeks after CBS\u2019s parent company Paramount entered into a $16 million settlement agreement with President Donald Trump to resolve Trump\u2019s lawsuit against \u201c60 Minutes.\u201d And just last week, Skydance Media\u2019s $8 billion acquisition of Paramount received <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/07\/24\/media\/fcc-skydance-paramount-merger-approved?cid=external-feeds_iluminar_yahoo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:approval;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">approval<\/a> from federal regulators.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">On Tuesday, Trump denied that he was \u201csolely responsible for the firing\u201d of Colbert, writing on Truth Social, \u201cThe reason he was fired was a pure lack of TALENT, and the fact that this deficiency was costing CBS $50 Million Dollars a year in losses \u2014 And it was only going to get WORSE.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">CNN has reached out to CBS for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThe Late Show\u201d has been on the air since 1993 when David Letterman served as host before Colbert took over in 2015, will end in the spring of 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">For more CNN news and newsletters create an account at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/account\/register?source=external-feeds_iluminar&amp;cid=external-feeds_iluminar_yahoo&amp;registration_email_campaign=https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/newsletters\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:CNN.com;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">CNN.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"When it comes to late-night television, Seth Meyers knows the future is largely out of your control.
