\n\t\u201cGremlins<\/a>\u201d lead actor Zach Galligan<\/a> recently said during an appearance at Comic-Con Manchester (via Games Radar<\/a>) that Warner Bros. is \u201cincredibly interested\u201d in \u201cGremlins 3.\u201d Not only that, but the script is allegedly on the desk of executive producer Steven Spielberg<\/a> and awaiting his sign-off. Galligan played the lead role of Billy Peltzer in 1984\u2019s \u201cGremlins\u201d and 1990\u2019s \u201cGremlins 2: The New Batch.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAfter 35 years, they\u2019ve come up with a script,\u201d Galligan told the audience. \u201cWarner Bros. is incredibly interested in doing it, apparently it\u2019s waiting on Mr. Spielberg to read it and approve it. But you can thank the success of \u2018Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tVariety has reached out to Warner Bros. for further comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tWarner Bros. released \u201cBeetlejuice Beetlejuice\u201d in theaters in September 2024 to the tune of $452 million at the worldwide box office. Like \u201cGremlins,\u201d Tim Burton\u2019s original \u201cBeetlejuice\u201d was a beloved movie classic from the 1980s. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cGremlins\u201d has franchised with the 1990 sequel and various video games. An animated series, subtitled \u201cSecrets of the Mogwai\u201d for Season 1 and \u201cThe Wild Batch\u201d for Season 2, started airing on HBO Max in 2023, with the last batch of new episodes hitting the streamer earlier this year in April. Galligan had a recurring guest voice role on the animated series.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an April interview with Deadline, Warner Bros. Pictures co-chief Pam Abdy let it slip that the studio was working with Spielberg\u2019s Amblin Entertainment on \u201cdeveloping new entries in the \u2018Gremlins\u2019 and \u2018Goonies\u2019 franchises.\u201d News broke earlier in the year<\/a> that Potsy Ponciroli had been hired to write the script for \u201cGoonies 2,\u201d with Spielberg returning as a producer.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs far as \u201cGremlins 3,\u201d no writer or director has been announced for the project by Warner Bros. The original \u201cGremlins,\u201d which famously led to the creation of the PG-13 rating along with Spielberg\u2019s \u201cIndiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,\u201d was a box office hit with $212 million dollars worldwide.
