Williams is a classroom teacher and union leader.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some context <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Texas House of Representatives is composed of 150 members who are each elected for a two-year term with no term limits. Per the <a href=\"https:\/\/house.texas.gov\/about\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas House website<\/a>, members must be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A citizen of the U.S.<\/li>\n<li>A qualified elector of the state<\/li>\n<li>At least 21 years old<\/li>\n<li>A resident of the state for two years immediately preceding election<\/li>\n<li>A resident of the district for one year immediately preceding election<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Texas Legislature\u2014which includes both state House and Senate members\u2014meets in regular session for about five months every other year. The 90th Texas Legislature will run Jan. 12-May 31, 2027, per the <a href=\"https:\/\/lrl.texas.gov\/sessions\/sessionyears.cfm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Legislative Reference Library of Texas.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Something to note <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Candidates were asked to keep responses under 50 words, answer the questions provided and avoid attacking opponents.
