New York’s thrifting scene<\/a> just got its flowers\u2014and its receipts. Yelp dropped its list of the country’s most saved spots for secondhand shopping<\/a> and the five-borough sweep (okay, technically two boroughs) proves what closet-diggers here have known for years: we do secondhand better than almost anywhere.<\/p>\n

Five New York City shops made the national ranking, with two boutiques cracking the top three. Leading the local charge is L Train Vintage in the East Village<\/a>, landing at #2. Right behind it at #3 is Bushwick’s dense, rack-packed Urban Jungle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the local roster was East Village mainstay Cure Thrift Shop<\/a> at #8, fellow East Village fixture Tokio7 at #10 for those chasing designer consignment finds and Williamsburg’s 10 Ft Single By Stella Dallas at #12, a longtime cult favorite for vintage denim heads and Y2K revivalists.<\/p>\n

Once New Yorkers buy secondhand, they’re babying it. Yelp’s data shows that while searches for “thrift shop near me” are up a jaw-dropping 2,200-percent year over year, the real work begins once the haul makes it home: searches for tailoring services are up 111-percent, refinishing is up 82-percent and bag restoration has climbed 77-percent. (Even vintage clock repair is having a moment, per Yelp’s collection notes, with searches spiking 167-percent.)<\/p>\n

Yelp compiled the list by ranking thrift, flea market, antique and vintage-consignment businesses nationwide based on total saves and review activity, capping each state at five spots for geographic spread.
