Dallas-Fort Worth has gone 46 days without measurable rain, tying a record dry streak from 1974 as drought<\/a> and wildfire concerns<\/a> grow across the region.\u00a0<\/p>\n The National Weather Service defines measurable precipitation as more than 0.01 inches of rain. An upper-level ridge of high pressure<\/a> has been impacting the Dallas-Fort Worth region for the last several weeks, preventing rain from forming.\u00a0<\/p>\n Related<\/strong>: With a heat wave roasting North Texas, when could Dallas cool off?<\/a><\/p>\n The longest dry streak on record came in 2000, when D-FW went 84 consecutive days without measurable rain.\u00a0<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n With low chances of rain in this week\u2019s forecast, the current streak could stretch through several more days, according to the weather service.\u00a0<\/p>\n How does this August compare to previous years?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n This August was among the \u201cdriest on record\u201d for Dallas-Fort Worth, according to the weather service.\u00a0<\/p>\n While some areas of North Texas saw scattered storms<\/a> last week, DFW Airport only saw a trace of rain. Normal rainfall for August in Dallas-Fort Worth is just over 2 inches, according to the weather service<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n Related<\/strong>: Dallas rain tracker: How much has fallen in 2026 compared to past record years?<\/a><\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n The region recorded a \u201ctrace\u201d of rain a handful of days in July and August, but those amounts were not enough to break the dry streak.<\/p>\n This August will rank among one of seven other years in which D-FW recorded only a trace of rain for the entire 31-day period. Dallas-Fort Worth is also seeing growing drought concerns as dry conditions spread across the state.\u00a0<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n Parts of the state facing moderate drought have increased from 36.11% to 57.36% in the last week, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor<\/a>.
