{"id":1036461,"date":"2026-09-01T06:40:33","date_gmt":"2026-09-01T06:40:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1036461\/"},"modified":"2026-09-01T06:40:33","modified_gmt":"2026-09-01T06:40:33","slug":"fort-worth-star-telegram-issues-damning-tcu-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1036461\/","title":{"rendered":"Fort Worth Star-Telegram issues damning TCU report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On August 26,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.star-telegram.com\/sports\/college\/big-12\/texas-christian-university\/article316992604.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> the Fort Worth Star-Telegram\u00a0reported<\/a> that <a href=\"https:\/\/awfulannouncing.com\/newspapers\/tcu-rescinds-fort-worth-star-telegram-credentials.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">TCU banned the paper<\/a> from covering all Horned Frogs athletics. According to the Star-Telegram, TCU rescinded its credentials over its reporting on a locker room fight.<\/p>\n<p>TCU\u2019s decision did not have the desired effect, as it did not intimidate the Star-Telegram out of reporting on\u00a0the incident and its aftermath.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTCU wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma was in the hospital for three days with injuries including a brain bleed and a concussion after teammate Jacob Fields punched and kicked him in the head, according to an arrest warrant affidavit,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.star-telegram.com\/sports\/college\/big-12\/texas-christian-university\/article317078440.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Shambhavi Rimal of the\u00a0Star-Telegram\u00a0reported<\/a> Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Fields was dismissed from the team and has since been formally charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/story\/_\/id\/49772714\/ex-tcu-s-jacob-fields-charged-alleged-punch-teammate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">ESPN\u2019s Mark Schlabach reported<\/a> Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Rimal\u2019s new Star-Telegram\u00a0report, Ezukanma told the TCU Police Department that he had become unconscious after Fields allegedly punched him. Eventually, Curtis Talley Jr., the football team\u2019s assistant athletic trainer, drove Ezukanma to the Harris Hospital emergency room.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEzukanma was given an urgent CT scan and the ER doctor read the results stating it was a brain bleed,\u201d Rimal wrote. \u201cHe was then transferred to the ICU, where he received a second CT scan. The results indicated the hematoma had grown, so he was given blood pressure and pain control medications. Hill Jr. and Shehan Jeyarajah, president of the Football Writers Association of America, also publicly supported Steven Johnson, the\u00a0Star-Telegram\u2018s\u00a0TCU beat writer.<\/p>\n<blockquote
