\n\tRobert Pattinson<\/a> is revealing how he mastered Chris Hansen<\/a>\u2018s voice for his portrayal of the To Catch a Predator host in A24\u2019s Primetime<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a recent interview with GQ India<\/a>, The Odyssey star admitted it was \u201cincredibly difficult\u201d trying to perfect the\u00a0Dateline\u00a0journalist\u2019s tone because \u201cit\u2019s just such a unique voice.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPattinson said he leaned on Hansen\u2019s podcast\u00a0Have A Seat with Chris Hansen to help familiarize himself with the host\u2019s vocal pattern. \u201cHe has a podcast discussing his old cases, and I was just walking around constantly trying to imitate his voice, but it\u2019s pretty dark material,\u201d the actor said. \u201cI\u2019m wandering around the streets saying what he\u2019s talking about, and people are incredibly confused with what\u2019s going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBut his voice is really iconic to me, and it\u2019s very hard to do it,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n

\n\tPrimetime chronicles the intense production, ethical dilemmas and media sensationalism behind\u00a0To Catch a Predator, which ran from 2004 to 2007.<\/p>\n

\n\tPattinson told GQ India that he initially signed on to the project as a producer after connecting with Ajon Singh\u2019s screenplay. He later suggested Lance Oppenheim direct the film after previously working with him on a documentary. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was like, \u2018There\u2019s something about his style that could connect. There\u2019s some sort of Oliver Stone-y, Brian De Palma version of this movie, and I think his style is really perfect for it,’\u201d the Twilight alum recalled. \u201cAnd then when the second draft of the script came in, I was like, \u2018Ooh, I really like this.\u2019 It\u2019s really unusual and kind of audacious. I\u2019m so curious to see how people will receive it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s so fun to work on something where it was Lance\u2019s first narrative feature. Everyone cared so much about it. It\u2019s the first thing I\u2019ve properly produced from the very, very beginning. And we were doing it really as a team the whole way through it,\u201d Pattinson added. \u201cIt was one of those things where you\u2019re like, \u2018Okay, we\u2019re throwing everything at this and trying to make it work.\u2019 So I\u2019m curious how it\u2019s going to go down.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHansen, who was not involved with the film<\/a>, recently questioned \u201cHollywood\u2019s motive\u201d behind the movie. During an\u00a0interview with podcaster Annie Elise<\/a>, he said the film\u2019s team reached out to him a few months ago and said, \u201c\u2018Hey look, we\u2019re doing this, we\u2019d like you to have some sort of consideration in terms of helping us with this.’\u201d However, he noted that Primetime was already shot by the time they contacted him.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs for what he thought about Pattinson\u2019s portrayal<\/a>, the journalist also told Entertainment Tonight last week, \u201cWhile I think it\u2019s overly dramatic, I think there is a pretty good imitation there in the trailer.\u201d<\/p>\n
