Yesterday, ESPN reported the Steelers were signing S Juanyeh Thomas to the practice squad, but the team hasn’t made that move official yet.

Johnson is the most well-known of the three and returns for a fourth stint with the Steelers. He appeared in three games with Pittsburgh in 2024, catching one pass for nine yards. His best season came in 2023 with the Denver Broncos, hauling in 19 passes for 284 yards and four touchdowns.

Johnson had brief stints with the Steelers in 2025 and 2026. Most recently, the team signed him this April but released him before training camp.

Swinson, an LSU product, was the New England Patriots’ fifth-round draft pick in 2025. He appeared in three games as a rookie, recording one solo tackle in limited snaps on defense and special teams. At his Pro Day, he weighed in at 6035, 255 pounds with 33 3/8-inch arms. He did not do any testing.

In his final year of college, Swinson recorded 13 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks.

Our scouting report on him concluded:

“Bradyn Swinson is an intriguing prospect who didn’t produce at a high level until this past season but has all the tools and measurables you want in an edge rusher. He needs to play with better spatial awareness and better technique as he fatigues, but his hand usage as a pass rusher and his play strength as a run defender make him a tantalizing prospect to draft and develop into a potential future starter on the edge.”

Vigers is a 2025 undrafted free agent out of UL-Monroe. He fits the profile of the tall, long cornerbacks Pittsburgh likes to collect. At his Pro Day, he stood 6006, 188 pounds with 32 1/2-inch arms and ran a 4.52 50-yard dash. In college, he tallied 72 tackles, eight pass breakups, and one interception. He did not appear in a regular-season game last season.

Our scouting report summed him up:

“Overall, Car’lin Vigers is an intriguing prospect, thanks to his size and length. He played up against competition and can cover in man-to-man, an always-attractive trait for the position. His tackling is messy, and his production is light, while a lack of long speed is a problem.

A system fit is tricky for him. He didn’t press much and wasn’t proficient there. A Cover 3 system makes some level of sense, but it takes away some of Vigers’ best traits. Still, a more man-heavy scheme is the best scheme for him to see NFL success as an above-average corner who won’t create big plays but can stick to his assignment.”

He was a 25-year-old rookie and is now 26, making him an “old” player for his second year in the league.

The Steelers will practice on Wednesday and Thursday before having off Friday through Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have added three more players to their practice squad, the team announced today.
