Amy Poehler<\/a> and Kenan Thompson<\/a> clearly have a great time reliving their early aughts days on Saturday Night Live<\/a>.<\/p>\n During Thompson’s appearance on Poehler’s Good Hang<\/a> podcast Tuesday, the comedians reminisced on a particular digital short sketch\u2014and how hungover they were shooting it.<\/p>\n The sketch in question was called “1-800-555-PHUNK<\/a>,” and aired on the Oct. 8, 2005, episode of SNL. It featured Thompson, Poehler, Finesse Mitchell, and celebrity guest host Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) as Black Eyed Peas members will.i.am, Fergie, APL.DE.AP, and Taboo, respectively. The spot was a parody commercial promoting the musical group’s ability to perform anywhere, from Wendy’s grand openings to Bar Mitzvahs.<\/p>\n “This was a different time, before we had children,” Poehler, 54, prefaced the story on Good Hang, with Thompson, 48, agreeing. (Poehler has two sons, Archie and Abel, with ex-husband Will Arnett; Thompson shares two daughters, Georgia and Gianna, with his ex-wife Christina Evangeline.)<\/p>\n “We would go out a lot, Kenan and I, and all of us would party a lot,” Poehler admitted. “There was a night, of many nights, but there was a particular night where I was out too late.”<\/p>\n “Yes,” Thompson agreed, noting that it was “just before I understood the schedule, too. I was just like hanging out because, like, [everyone] was still out there.”<\/p>\n “We were at a place called Bungalow 8,” Poehler continued, noting that her good friend Rashida Jones invited them. “She’d be like, ‘Hey, I’m hosting this club thing.’ And I’d be like, ‘Oh my God, what time?’ ‘1 a.m.,’ ‘Sounds great.’ I mean, what the f—.”<\/p>\n Thompson said it never mattered what time the party started: “We’re there! And, like, [Bungalow 8] doesn’t close like the other places. Like, it can kind of just stay open a little later.”<\/p>\n Kenan Thompson, Finesse Mitchell, Amy Poehler, and Jon Heder on ‘Saturday Night Live’ as the Black Eyed Peas, season 31, episode 2 Poehler explained that, once at the nightclub surrounded by celebrities like T.I., she noticed Thompson walk in.<\/p>\n “Kenan comes strolling in, and we had a 6 a.m. call? I probably had a 6 a.m., you were maybe a little bit later, because ladies have a lot [of hair and makeup prep],” Poehler told Thompson, who confirmed it was a “first thing in the morning” call time.<\/p>\n “We had to be up maybe two or three hours later to play…,” Poehler stated as Thompson finished, “The Black Eyed Peas.”<\/p>\n The pair laughed as Poehler said she had to get a “full spray tan” to portray Fergie while Thompson said he wore “a whole lot of wiggage” for his performance as will.i.am.<\/p>\n “Heavy ass dreads,” he noted.<\/p>\n Poehler added, “The host was Jon Heder, who did not stay out late that night. He was ready.”<\/p>\n “He didn’t have an issue at all,” Thompson chimed in. “He’s, like, Mormon, isn’t he? He chilled. He was a responsible person.”<\/p>\n “He didn’t even have caffeine!” Poehler questioned.<\/p>\n Thompson joked that the shoots were always “10,000 miles away” and this one happened to be on a New Jersey highway during rush hour.<\/p>\n “We were so hungover, and could not move or talk,” Poehler admitted, singing Fergie’s lyrics,”‘No, no, no, no don’t phunk with my heart.'”<\/p>\n She continued, “We had to dance. And Kenan was doing a bit that I will never forget, which is he was taking phone calls from his past self, pretending to tell him to go home.”<\/p>\n “Yes,” Thompson explained. “Like, ‘You are being unkind to yourself, sir. What are you doing, man? You know you have to get up early. This is not good. Everybody knew the full story. We were crying, watching all of you guys. You had to dance so hard. And we were like, ‘Oh, they are so hungover.'”<\/p>\n Poehler left SNL in December 2008 after starring on the show for seven seasons. Thompson has remained an active member of the cast since 2003, making him the longest-tenured cast member<\/a> in the show’s history.<\/p>\n “It would be cool if I never left the show.
