{"id":1040978,"date":"2026-09-03T14:51:23","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T14:51:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1040978\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T14:51:23","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T14:51:23","slug":"two-new-zealand-flags-mistakenly-raised-among-44-australian-flags-at-parliament-house-for-australian-national-flag-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1040978\/","title":{"rendered":"Two New Zealand flags mistakenly raised among 44 Australian flags at Parliament House for Australian National Flag Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parliament House mistakenly raised two New Zealand flags among the 44 flags displayed to celebrate Australian National Flag Day.<\/p>\n<p>Australia celebrated Australian National Flag Day on Thursday to commemorate the first time the Australian National Flag was flown in 1901.<\/p>\n<p>Parliament House in Canberra marked the occasion by flying the Australian National Flag on 44 ceremonial flagpoles outside the building.<\/p>\n<p>In an embarrassing blunder, two of the flags raised were actually the flags of New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>The flags were quickly replaced after the mistake was noticed, with the two rogue flags removed.<\/p>\n<p>The Australian flag shares similarities with the New Zealand flag, with the main difference being the seven-pointed Commonwealth Star on the Australian flag and not on the New Zealand flag.<\/p>\n<p>On its website, Parliament House describes the event as a celebration of &#8220;values and fairness&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This year marks the 125th anniversary of Federation, the adoption of the Constitution, the first sitting of Commonwealth Parliament on 9 May 1901, and the first official flying of the Australian National Flag,&#8221;
