But as the bills are going out, NBC 5 Responds reports some residents are receiving long-awaited refund checks from the county. <\/p>\n<p>According to the Cook County Treasurer, 3,707 certificates of error refund checks will be mailed out this month. This comes after the Treasurer\u2019s office resumed mailing out certificate of error refunds in December, following a seven-month long pause.<\/p>\n<p>The county says it stopped sending out refund checks while the county\u2019s operating system was undergoing an upgrade. <\/p>\n<p>You may receive a refund check if you previously filed a certificate of error with the county, and it was approved but not paid out.
