{"id":104205,"date":"2025-07-30T07:23:18","date_gmt":"2025-07-30T07:23:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/104205\/"},"modified":"2025-07-30T07:23:18","modified_gmt":"2025-07-30T07:23:18","slug":"2025-mlb-trade-deadline-luis-robert-jr-jhoan-duran-among-targets-for-phillies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/104205\/","title":{"rendered":"2025 MLB trade deadline: Luis Robert Jr., Jhoan Duran among targets for Phillies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/sports-phillies-john-middleton-trade-deadline\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">2025 MLB trade deadline<\/a> is on Thursday, and the Philadelphia Phillies are expected to be one of the most active teams as they load up for another playoff run.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia will be in the market for bullpen help and an outfielder, ideally a right-handed hitter, who can add some more power to the lineup.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s which players the Phillies could target before Thursday&#8217;s 6 p.m. deadline.<\/p>\n<p>Phillies 2025 MLB trade deadline targetsEugenio Su\u00e1rez, 3B, Arizona Diamondbacks<\/p>\n<p>D-Backs third baseman Eugenio Su\u00e1rez, a 2025 All-Star, is the top bat available on the trade deadline market. He has smacked 36 homers, which ranks in the top five in MLB. His 87 RBIs as of Tuesday night also rank tied for first with Seattle&#8217;s Cal Raleigh.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 34-year-old is slashing .248\/.321\/.577 in the 2025 season. Su\u00e1rez wouldn&#8217;t be an ideal fit with the Phillies defensively, but his power would add a much-needed right-handed bat to the team&#8217;s lineup.<\/p>\n<p>If the Phillies were to acquire Su\u00e1rez, they would need to reshuffle some players in the field. Su\u00e1rez could play third base until <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/philadelphia-phillies-alec-bohm-injured-list-broken-rib\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Alec Bohm returns from an injury<\/a>. But then, after that, Su\u00e1rez would likely have to be the designated hitter, which would mean Kyle Schwarber playing left field. He hit a home run off the Phillies in a win on Monday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Robert was an All-Star in 2023, when he had a breakout season and hit 38 home runs. He was drafted by the Phillies in 2013, but chose to attend the Air Force Academy before pursuing a professional baseball career.<\/p>\n<p>David Bednar, RHP, Pittsburgh Pirates<\/p>\n<p>Pirates reliever David Bednar is one of the top names on the market at the deadline.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bednar, 30, is a two-time All-Star and has another year of team control through arbitration. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.post-gazette.com\/sports\/pirates\/2025\/07\/29\/pirates-trade-rumors-david-bednar-mitch-keller-tigers-rangers-phillies-yankees\/stories\/202507280038\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Pirates are reportedly looking for a top-five prospect<\/a> from another organization in exchange for Bednar.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Phillies have contacted the Pirates for Bednar, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.<\/p>\n<p>In 42 games this season, Bednar has 17 saves, a 2.35 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Helsley, RHP, St. Louis Cardinals<\/p>\n<p>Right-handed reliever Ryan Helsley is set to be a free agent, and the Cardinals are falling in the standings, which means he could be on the move at the trade deadline.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Like Bednar, Helsley is a two-time All-Star, with the latest nod coming in the 2024 season.<\/p>\n<p>Entering Tuesday night, Helsley had 21 saves, which ranked 10th in baseball. He also had a 3.00 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. The Phillies have shown interest in Helsley, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/mlb\/news\/mlb-trade-rumors-astros-lock-in-on-wish-list-starting-pitcher-blue-jays-bulk-up-bullpen-mets-eye-all-star\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according to MLB.com.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/gettyimages-2226446733.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"San Diego Padres v. The 31-year-old has a club option for next season, so the Phillies could part ways if things don&#8217;t work out following the deadline.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cedric Mullins, OF, Baltimore Orioles<\/p>\n<p>Laureano isn&#8217;t the only Baltimore outfielder that Phillies fans should be keeping an eye on ahead of the deadline.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cedric Mullins, 30, is likely to be moved at the deadline, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/story\/_\/id\/45568636\/ranking-mlb-trade-deadline-candidates-alex-bregman-jarren-duran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according to ESPN<\/a>. He&#8217;s set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mullins is slashing .226\/.325\/.449 on the season with 15 homers, 49 RBIs and 18 doubles. He&#8217;s also stolen 14 bases.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/tanner-banks-phillies-white-sox-trade-gregory-soto-mlb-trade-deadline\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Phillies and Orioles made two deals<\/a> at the deadline last season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Steven Kwan, OF, Cleveland Guardians<\/p>\n<p>The Phillies would likely prefer a right-handed bat at the deadline, but Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan would still fit what the team needs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kwan, a two-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove Award winner, is likely to be dealt at the trade deadline, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/6521551\/2025\/07\/28\/mlb-trade-deadline-guardians-clase-brewers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according to The Athletic<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/gettyimages-2227555413.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"Colorado Rockies v Cleveland Guardians \" height=\"413\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                  Steven Kwan #38 of the Cleveland Guardians hits a single during the seventh inning against the Colorado Rockies at Progressive Field on July 28, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>                Jason Miller \/ Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The Athletic also reported the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/6521551\/2025\/07\/28\/mlb-trade-deadline-guardians-clase-brewers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Phillies have shown a &#8220;ton&#8221; of interest in Kwan<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kwan would be an upgrade to Philadelphia&#8217;s outfield, and he&#8217;s only making $4.175 million in 2025.
