SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 A federal judge sentenced a Cuban man this week after he rammed into multiple government vehicles<\/a> in the parking lot of a North Side Walmart.<\/p>\n

Robyn Argote-Brooks, 26, received 10 months in federal prison Tuesday for damaging an SUV and a sedan that belonged to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Department of Justice said in a news release.<\/p>\n

In May, Argote-Brooks was found guilty<\/a> on two counts of destroying government property by a U.S. District Court Judge. He was also charged with forcibly assaulting a federal officer that carried up to 20 years in federal prison, but he was acquitted of that charge.<\/p>\n

Argote-Brooks was at a Walmart parking lot in the 12600 block of Blanco Road when he was approached by multiple vehicles with ICE agents inside. The January confrontation was caught on video and showcased officers confronting Argote-Brooks in the driver\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n

Federal authorities previously said officers attempted to make contact with Argote-Brooks after running his license plates and discovering that his parole status \u2014 which had allowed him to remain in the United States \u2014 was terminated.<\/p>\n

Argote-Brooks testified through a translator on May 7 and said he was working for a delivery service and waiting for an order in the Walmart parking lot, watching videos on his phone when several men approached him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told him, \u2018I don\u2019t speak English, and that I didn\u2019t understand,\u2019\u201d Argote-Brooks told jurors.<\/p>\n

He later told jurors that he became frightened after seeing masked men approach his vehicle.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was scared because I see somebody who is coming with a face mask covering his face and asking for my keys,\u201d Argote-Brooks said back in May. \u201cThey haven\u2019t identified themselves or told me what I did wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

Argote-Brooks\u2019 arrest affidavit<\/a> described him turning the vehicle\u2019s ignition, reversing and pulling forward into the ICE vehicle. <\/p>\n

He told the jury in May he never intended to hurt anyone.<\/p>\n

Argote-Brooks was ordered to pay an additional $9,767 in restitution and a $200 special assessment fee, according to the news release.<\/p>\n
