Economists polled by Dow Jones expect 53,000 nonfarm payrolls were added last month, and they expect the unemployment rate to be 4.1%. This compares to a loss of 23,000 jobs in July.

“Inflation statistics next week will also be pivotal; however, ongoing decreases in employment should be enough for the central bank to start considering the labor side of its mandate when prescribing policy, rather than maintaining an unwavering commitment to quelling price pressures,” said José Torres, senior economist at Interactive Brokers. He is eyeing the consumer price index and producer price index reports due next week.

Stocks are on pace for a winning week. The S&P 500 is on track for a 0.5% advance, while the Nasdaq is on pace for a 0.7% gain. The Dow is heading for a 0.2% jump.

Traders work on the floor at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in New York City, U.S., Aug.…

[2
4740,133,81,91320,144,8001,7994,51,46420,9851,170,2066,7995,119985,135,91322,143,50,2578,6769,201907,91321,145,18244,15243,134,16285,52
post-1042615","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news","tag-australia","tag-breaking-news-markets","tag-business-news","tag-dow-jones-fut-sep25","tag-dow-jones-industrial-average","tag-economic-events","tag-hang-seng-index","tag-headlines","tag-interactive-brokers-group-inc","tag-j-d-vance","tag-japan","tag-jd-vance","tag-kospi-index","tag-labor-economy","tag-markets","tag-nasdaq-100-fut-sep25","tag-nasdaq-composite","tag-news","tag-personnel","tag-prices","tag-roger-williams","tag-sp-500-fut-sep25","tag-sp-500-index","tag-scott-bessent","tag-south-korea","tag-stock-markets","tag-suppress-zephr","tag-top-stories
["GET
