Hello, everyone! Did you know that a side effect of some medications is sensitivity to the sun or heat<\/a>? I didn\u2019t, until recently. Let\u2019s dive in.<\/p>\n

Be aware of summer-related drug side effects<\/p>\n

The summer months mean more time out in the sun, but if you\u2019re on certain medications<\/a>, take note: Some anxiety and depression drugs can cause excessive sweating, while other common drugs \u2014 like antibiotics, antihistamines and even oral birth control \u2014 cause sun sensitivity. These side effects could lead to dehydration or make you more prone to sunburn or a rash. Here\u2019s a fuller list<\/a> of meds to look out for.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re on these drugs but need to spend time outdoors, make sure to have water (or even electrolyte packets<\/a>) on hand, wear sun-protective clothing<\/a> and apply sunscreen every two hours.
