Construction\u00a0kicked off\u00a0today\u00a0on The Haven on Palm, a 50-unit affordable housing community for older adults in Imperial Beach. Half of the homes will be\u00a0set aside\u00a0for seniors exiting homelessness.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The three-story, $48 million building\u00a0is being\u00a0built on the former site of the Imperial Beach United Methodist Church.\u00a0The\u00a0homes\u00a0will\u00a0be\u00a0located\u00a0next to the new Imperial Beach Neighborhood Center, which\u00a0provides food\u00a0assistance\u00a0and other\u00a0support\u00a0services\u00a0to the community.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Wakeland Housing and Development\u00a0<\/a>is\u00a0leading the project\u00a0and will lease the units. Funding comes from\u00a0public, private and community partners. The County contributed $6 million and 25 housing vouchers.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Haven on Palm is expected to be completed\u00a0by\u00a0early 2028.\u00a0<\/p>\n Since 2017, the County has invested more than $330 million in affordable housing\u00a0including\u00a0loans through the Innovative Housing Trust Fund.
