Human remains have been found in the search for a South Australian man who has not been seen since January this year.<\/p>\n
Joshua Clifton Demell, 39, was last seen at Port Augusta on January 23, 2026.<\/p>\n
His abandoned motorbike was found about 13km away near Yorkey\u2019s Crossing the following day.<\/p>\n
Police conducted several searches of the area but failed to find any signs of Mr Demell.<\/p>\n
They returned to the area this week with help from mounted operations and State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers.<\/p>\n
Human remains were discovered on Friday morning outside the initial search area.<\/p>\n
Superintendent Josh Heinze told ABC on the day Mr Demell went missing Port Augusta was experiencing extreme heat, with temperatures in the mid-40s.<\/p>\n
He said the remains were found kilometres away from Mr Demell\u2019s motorbike.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is too early to confirm the identity of the human remains,\u201d a police spokesman said.<\/p>\n
