A woman who was gravely injured by an ex-boyfriend who allegedly forced entry into her Poway home and attacked her<\/a> several weeks ago succumbed to her injuries on Friday, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said. <\/p>\n

Since the attack, authorities have been looking for Jeronimo Cedillo, 38, who is now wanted for her murder.<\/p>\n

Cedillo is suspected of attacking 43-year-old Azucena Gonzalez Martinez with an undisclosed type of weapon in a neighborhood near Carmel Mountain Ranch Open Space Park.<\/p>\n

Cedillo allegedly broke in the 14100 block of Brighton Avenue in Poway shortly before 3 a.m. on Aug. 11 and attacked Gonzalez Martinez. Initially, authorities reported that Gonzalez Martinez was attacked with a hammer.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCrimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to arrest of a man who is accused of beating his ex-girlfriend nearly to death. NBC 7’s Dave Summers spoke to the victim’s family.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

The suspect also also goes by Geronimo and is described as a man with brown eyes and black hair, standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and weighing 200 pounds.<\/p>\n

Cedillo fled prior to the arrival of deputies, who found the woman suffering from severe trauma, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. Paramedics took the victim to a hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition, Lt. Juan Marquez said.<\/p>\n

Cedillo is known to frequent various parts of the San Diego area, as well as Los Angeles County and Mexico. It is possible Cedillo fled to Mexico after the suspected assault, Marquez said.<\/p>\n

Anyone who might be able to help investigators locate the suspect is asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477 or contact the agency online at sdcrimestoppers.org<\/a>. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.<\/p>\n
