{"id":1044521,"date":"2026-09-05T07:47:23","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T07:47:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1044521\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T07:47:23","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T07:47:23","slug":"how-to-use-cell-phone-safety-features-to-protect-against-thieves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1044521\/","title":{"rendered":"How to use cell phone safety features to protect against thieves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\"><strong>SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 With families getting back to their back-to-school routines, protecting your cell phone devices is critical, especially if they end up in the wrong hands. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">There are specific safety features you can Google for your particular phone to better protect yourself and your information. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">For example, if you have a <a href=\"https:\/\/store.google.com\/magazine\/pixel-safety-features?hl=en-US&amp;srsltid=AfmBOorCKzCzI_GcWhpKGD_1DhvdwHoGvbJJ-eCYpHTEZNXK1KAJFAXL&amp;pli=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Google Pixel Android device<\/a>, you can activate the \u201cTheft Detection Lock.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Instructions:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"sc-dLMFU dXsCjt font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-eDPEul gFeYkf egxwAv\">\n<p>Open your phone\u2019s settings<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-eDPEul gFeYkf egxwAv\">\n<p>Hit \u201cGoogle Services\u201d and select \u201cAll Services\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-eDPEul gFeYkf egxwAv\">\n<p>Open \u201cTheft Protection\u201d and toggle on \u201cTheft Detection Lock\u201d<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">That feature uses smart motion sensors and AI to detect if someone grabs your phone and runs, rides off on a bike or drives away; the screen will lock fast. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">In this same section, you can turn on the \u201cOffline Device Lock\u201d feature, where your screen will lock shortly after your device goes offline to protect your data.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">You can activate the \u201cFailed Authentication Lock,\u201d where your screen will lock after repeated failed authentication attempts in your apps and settings. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">If you activate the \u201cRemote Lock\u201d that is in the same menu, and your device is stolen or lost, you can lock your screen from any device by entering your phone number at <a href=\"https:\/\/android.com\/lock.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/android.com\/lock.\">android.com\/lock.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">If your phone is stolen and someone gains access to your device, and you have an iPhone, you can lock your applications. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">This is to protect your sensitive information that could give the wrong hands access to bank transfers, social media and other identity-related applications. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Instructions: <\/p>\n<ul class=\"sc-dLMFU dXsCjt font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-eDPEul gFeYkf egxwAv\">\n<p>Tap and hold on the app\u2019s icon<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-eDPEul gFeYkf egxwAv\">\n<p>Select Require Passcode from the menu that pops up<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-eDPEul gFeYkf egxwAv\">\n<p>Choose either Require Passcode or Hide and Require Passcode if you want to hide the app as well. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">For more safety features, click on the phone link that applies to you. <\/p>\n<ul class=\"sc-dLMFU dXsCjt font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-eDPEul gFeYkf egxwAv\"\/>\n<li class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-eDPEul gFeYkf egxwAv\"\/><\/ul>\n<p>Copyright 2026 by KSAT &#8211;
