A Duval County jury convicted a Jacksonville man of a home invasion in 2024 of an 89-year-old woman who was awakened, tied up, robbed and raped.<\/p>\n
The jury on Thursday found Lamont Jackson guilty of kidnapping, sexual battery, home invasion robbery, and grand theft auto. Jackson names faces life in prison.<\/p>\n
A sentencing date has yet to be set for the crime, which occurred in July 2024.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors said just before midnight Jackson broke into the woman\u2019s home while she was asleep, raped her, tied her up and stole car keys and a wallet from her purse.<\/p>\n
The victim managed to free herself and call 911. She was taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries and underwent a sexual assault examination. <\/p>\n
Through neighborhood witnesses and surveillance footage, the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office SWAT and Narcotics team arrested Jackson two days later. <\/p>\n
