Cole Spicer\u2019s<\/a> time at Arizona State ended before it even began.<\/p>\n

The 2022 Boston Bruins draft pick won\u2019t play for the Sun Devils after committing to them in April, Grand Forks Herald\u2019s Brad Elliott Schlossman reported,<\/a> noting the team has \u201cmoved on\u201d from Spicer.<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s unclear why the center will no longer play at Arizona, a source with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed to 98.5 The Sports Hub\u2019s Ty Anderson<\/a> that Spicer is dealing with \u201csignificant injury issues.\u201d <\/p>\n

Spicer, who was not present at Bruins development camp earlier this summer, spent two seasons at Minnesota Duluth, but his sophomore season came to a halt when he was deemed academically ineligible to play. Last July, Spicer revealed to the Duluth News Tribune\u2019s Matt Wellens that he was stepping away from hockey for the foreseeable future<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Two months later Spicer returned to collegiate hockey<\/a> before he entered the transfer portal<\/a> to play at Arizona. <\/p>\n

Spicer, drafted in the fourth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, led the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League with 35 points in 37 games last season. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear what\u2019s next for Spicer, but he has two years of NCAA eligibility left.<\/p>\n
