2 firefighters hurt while responding to South Philadelphia row home fire<\/p>\n

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Two firefighters were injured early Saturday while battling a fire inside a threestory row home in South Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

The Philadelphia Fire Department responded around 5:23 a.m. to the 1000 block of Wharton Street, where crews arrived to find flames coming from the basement of an occupied dwelling. Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 5:49 a.m., according to the department.<\/p>\n

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries during the operation and were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Both were listed in stable condition. No civilian injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

The fire displaced three residents.<\/p>\n

The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin. No additional information has been released.<\/p>\n
