PHOENIX, Ariz.\u00a0\u2014\u00a0The ULM volleyball team\u00a0(2-4)\u00a0fell\u00a00-3\u00a0(21-25, 19-25, 22-25)\u00a0to Temple\u00a0(4-1)\u00a0on the second day of the GCU Invitational (Sept. 5).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Abby Cunningham<\/a> led the Warhawk offense once again, making a team-high nine kills. She added seven digs and two blocks. Kenzie Behl<\/a>, Grace Troxell<\/a>, and Tatum Clay<\/a> each made\u00a0five\u00a0kills.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n Olivia Anderson<\/a> had a career-high 10 digs and eight assists\u00a0on\u00a0the match.\u00a0Morgan Howard<\/a> and Eden Pietrzak<\/a> each made 10 digs as well.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The Owls made an early 5-0 run to lead 7-2, but Olivia Anderson<\/a> broke up the run with her first career kill. Abby Cunningham<\/a>\u00a0hit back-to-back kills on two assists from\u00a0Anderson, to close the gap to 7-5, but Temple rebuilt a five-point lead.\u00a0The Warhawks responded with an Eden Pietrzak<\/a>\u00a0kill\u00a0and an ace from\u00a0Anderson\u00a0steadily getting\u00a0ULM back into the set. A 4-0 run made the score 14-all just before the media timeout.\u00a0The Owls reset with a timeout when their lead was cut to just one at\u00a019-18 and\u00a0went on to take the set 25-21.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The second set saw\u00a0nine ties, with each team taking multiple 3-0 runs to catch up to the other. The\u00a0Warhawks opened with a\u00a03-0\u00a0lead, then trailed\u00a0Temple\u00a010-6. ULM took a 4-0 ride on blocks from Abby Cunningham<\/a>, Marissa Kobelski<\/a>\u00a0and Grace Troxell<\/a> to reach 10-all.\u00a0The set remained evenly matched when two kills from Kenzie Behl<\/a> made the score 15-15, and\u00a0the Warhawks and Owls\u00a0remained locked through 18 points. Temple broke out a 7-1 run to seal the set 25-19.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The first half of the third set was\u00a0similar to\u00a0the second, with six ties and five lead changes between the two teams before the media timeout.\u00a0The Owls took a 15-13 lead into the break, and the Warhawks got it back to a one-point deficit on\u00a0Grace Troxell’s<\/a> kill\u00a0(16-17). ULM\u00a0attempted\u00a0to capitalize on Temple’s four service errors in the last few points, but the Owls clinched the match at 25-22.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The Warhawks will finish the weekend against San Francisco tomorrow,\u00a0Sept. 6.
