JACKSONVILLE, Fla. <\/strong> \u2013 Aug. 1 marks the start of a month-long state sales tax holiday in Florida on most items students need for the start of a new school year.<\/p>\n

For families looking for even more savings, Goodwill Chief Operating Officer Naomi Jackson says its stores have you covered.<\/p>\n

News4JAX caught up with Jackson at the Goodwill store on St. Augustine Road in the Lakewood neighborhood. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat is an opportunity for even deeper discounts on already great finds here at Goodwill,\u201d Jackson said.<\/p>\n

Each week in August, Goodwill is offering certain items at 40% off.<\/p>\n

Those items will either be marked by a red, white, blue or green tag that indicates the discount.<\/p>\n

Jackson says it does not stop there. <\/p>\n

Goodwill is also offering 50% off on all books and media to customers who are a part of the store\u2019s free loyalty program between Aug. 8-10.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the excitement for our shoppers really centered around the treasure hunting,\u201d Jackson said. \u201cThe good finds. You can find things that have new tags on them that are discounted at 40% off, discounted to our regular Goodwill pricing that would sell for three to five times the amount.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a brief breakdown of the sales tax holidays, although there will be some exemptions.<\/p>\n

There will be no tax on clothes, shoes, and accessories like wallets and bags priced at $100 or less. (WJXT)<\/p>\n

School supplies costing $50 or less are tax-free, in addition to certain learning aids that are priced under $30. Those include puzzles, paperback books, electronic books, flash cards and memory games.<\/p>\n

Personal computers and accessories costing $1,500 or less will not be taxed.<\/p>\n
