{"id":1046580,"date":"2026-09-06T08:44:24","date_gmt":"2026-09-06T08:44:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1046580\/"},"modified":"2026-09-06T08:44:24","modified_gmt":"2026-09-06T08:44:24","slug":"canadian-woman-dies-in-moped-crash-on-magnetic-island","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1046580\/","title":{"rendered":"Canadian woman dies in moped crash on Magnetic Island"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A woman has died after the moped she was riding collided with a car on Magnetic Island in north Queensland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Emergency services were called to Horseshoe Bay just before 12pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A 74-year-old woman, a Canadian national, died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The driver of the car was not physically injured.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">A Queensland Police Service spokesperson could not confirm whether the woman was a tourist visiting the island.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">Horseshoe Bay resident Simone Wall told the ABC multiple bystanders tried to save the woman.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"EmphasisedText_quote__TE6kn\"><p>&#8220;Everyone, including residents, tourists and lifeguards, worked tirelessly trying to save her,&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>  Ms Wall said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;They never gave up.
