He previously held policy and government affairs roles at APA Corporation and on Capitol Hill, including as Deputy Chief of Staff for Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11), where he shaped energy legislation for the Permian Basin. Earlier in his career, Merket held regulatory and land positions at the Texas Railroad Commission and Concho Resources.
