Indiana Fever<\/a> guard Sophie Cunningham has caught the attention of some pro wrestling executives due to her fierce role as an enforcer for teammate Caitlin Clark<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When the Fever signed Cunningham in the off-season, she made it quite clear that she was ready to support Clark and handle any intimidation or physical tactics opponents might dole out.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust the competitor that I am, I\u2019m fierce, I\u2019m sassy,\u201d Cunningham said. \u201cI stick up for my teammates. I stick up for myself. Sometimes, I think that\u2019s okay to be feisty and be yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n

She had a chance to prove herself in a game against the\u00a0Connecticut Sun<\/a>\u00a0last month. Guard Jacy Sheldon poked Clark in the eye, and a dust-up ensued, followed by guard Marina Mabrey slamming\u00a0the WNBA\u2019s top star to the floor.<\/p>\n

Cunningham did not waver on her promise to stick up for her teammate, delivering a hard foul to Sheldon in retaliation later in the quarter and getting herself ejected. Yeah, message sent.<\/p>\n

Sophie Cunningham\u2019s physical style, highlighted by that flagrant foul that led to a brawl and ejections, apparently caught the eye of some professional wrestling executives.<\/p>\n

Women of Wrestling (WOW) co-owner Jeanie Buss (you may remember her as the President of the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>) praised Cunningham\u2019s talent and competitiveness, expressing interest in having her join the promotion.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would love to have [Sophie] join us at [WOW],\u201d Buss wrote on X. \u201cShe is talented, dedicated, and a fierce competitor!\u201d<\/p>\n

She is all of those things.<\/p>\n

Buss has described the women of WOW as \u201csome of the strongest people I\u2019ve ever met in my life,\u201d and believes Cunningham would fit right in.<\/p>\n

David McLane, Buss\u2019s partner at WOW, concurs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m from Indiana. I\u2019m from Indianapolis, and that\u2019s the home of not only the second-best basketball team in the country this last year, but the biggest name in professional basketball today, Caitlin Clark,\u201d McClane told the Daily Mirror<\/a>. \u201cAnd Caitlin Clark has an enforcer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s the Marty McSorley to Wayne Gretzky, and she is a stunning athlete,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Not Just About Looks<\/p>\n

With apologies to McClane, I don\u2019t see McSorley when looking at that picture above. Which brings us to another point. Sophie Cunningham has other assets that would make her a good addition to WOW.<\/p>\n

McLane has an eye for these things. He is, after all, the creator of GLOW \u2013 Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.<\/p>\n

Cunningham certainly fits the bill. She has always been a spectacular presence on social media, wowing fans with her game-day and event outfits.<\/p>\n

Prior to signing with Indiana, Sophie was flat-out breaking necks with her look<\/a> at last year\u2019s WNBA All-Star Weekend. And who could forget the time the bombshell \u201centered the villa\u201d?<\/p>\n

But as Buss points out to the Mirror, this wrestling promotion isn\u2019t just about eye candy. It\u2019s about athelticism. Entertainment.<\/p>\n

\u201cDavid first invited me to come see women of wrestling,\u201d Buss explained. \u201cI came up with every excuse I could not to because I thought it was mud wrestling or oil wrestling, jello wrestling, that\u2019s what it used to be back in the 90s.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I am so proud of how far it\u2019s come. And all those images are out of your mind. It\u2019s a real sport, and these are real athletes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sophie Cunningham would be a perfect fit.<\/p>\n
