{"id":1048537,"date":"2026-09-07T09:02:39","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T09:02:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1048537\/"},"modified":"2026-09-07T09:02:39","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T09:02:39","slug":"satou-sabally-done-for-year-in-sad-liberty-outcome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1048537\/","title":{"rendered":"Satou Sabally done for year in sad Liberty outcome"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Satou Sabally\u2019s season has ended.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Liberty announced Thursday that Sabally will miss the remainder of the season as she recovers from <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/14\/sports\/satou-sabally-right-to-prioritize-health-in-liberty-concussion-battle\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">her second concussion in less than a year<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sabally suffered a concussion in the Liberty\u2019s June 23 win in Las Vegas and has not played since.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After spending seven weeks in concussion protocol, she cleared the league\u2019s guidelines but still wasn\u2019t 100 percent. Heather Khalifa for NY Post<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not trying to rush anybody back,\u201d DeMarco said Aug. 13. \u201cAnd it\u2019s always going to be about the health of our players.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A week later, Sabally shared the \u201cincredibly hard news\u201d on Instagram that she <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/19\/sports\/libertys-satou-sabally-out-of-fiba-world-cup-for-germany\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wouldn\u2019t be representing Germany<\/a> at this month\u2019s FIBA Women\u2019s Basketball World Cup.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now, I have to listen to my body, put my health first and prioritize my full recovery,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI feel your support for all these years and I\u2019m so grateful for it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sabally, who also suffered a concussion in Game 3 of the 2025 WNBA Finals that sidelined her for most of the offseason, was the Liberty\u2019s biggest offseason acquisition aside from re-signing their Big 3 to long-term deals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"   data-modal-image=\"40643943\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/washington-mystics-vs-new-york-130962861.jpg\" alt=\"Satou Sabally of the New York Liberty walks down the court.\" class=\"wp-image-40643943\"\/>New York Liberty forward Satou Sabally (0) walks down the court during a WNBA basketball game against the Washington Mystics at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 14, 2026.
