Here are some key milestones that are coming up in the Chicago area.<\/p>\n
Waning Daylight<\/p>\n
According to the website Sunrise-Sunset, the Chicago area will see its final sunset occurring at 7 p.m. or later within the next 10 days, with that date falling on September 16.<\/p>\n
After that, the sun will set before 7 p.m. for nearly six months, with the next post-7 p.m. sunset occurring at the start of daylight saving time next March.<\/p>\n
Officially Official Fall<\/p>\n
While meteorological fall began on September 1, astronomical fall is set to get underway on the autumnal equinox on September 22.<\/p>\n
More Darkness Than Daylight<\/p>\n
Just five days later, another key milestone will arrive in the Chicago area, as we\u2019ll dip below 12 hours of daylight for the first time on September 27.<\/p>\n
Slowly but surely more milestones will come in the months ahead, as we\u2019ll dip below 11 hours of daylight and see pre-6 p.m. sunsets beginning at the end of October.<\/p>\n
When Does Daylight Saving Time End?<\/p>\n
Daylight saving time will officially come to an end in the United States on the morning of Sunday, November 7, with an extra hour of sleep available to those who need it.<\/p>\n
Daylight saving time then won\u2019t resume until March 14, 2027\u2026.or at least that\u2019s the plan right now.<\/p>\n
That could be up in the air because of legislation being mulled in the U.S. Congress, with the House passing a bill to make daylight saving time permanent in the United States.<\/p>\n
