That sounds like a small, funny detail from one of the NBA\u2019s most entertaining personalities. For the Timberwolves, it also speaks to the kind of leadership Edwards will need to provide after a franchise-altering offseason.<\/p>\n

Anthony Edwards loves basketball\u2019s loudest environments<\/p>\n

Edwards<\/a> has never looked like a player intimidated by a road building.<\/p>\n

Asked which arenas he enjoys, the Wolves guard singled out Madison Square Garden, TD Garden and Philadelphia because the crowds bring an intensity that demands a response. He called New York especially difficult, explaining that players have to be ready for the energy in the building.<\/p>\n

Edwards does not lead as Conley did. He is not the veteran point guard calmly organizing a huddle, slowing the game down and delivering the perfect message at the right time.<\/p>\n

His leadership is louder and more personal.<\/p>\n

Edwards leads with confidence, competitiveness and a willingness to make teammates feel like they belong in the moment. He wants the ball when the game tightens, but he also understands that Minnesota\u2019s ceiling depends on Ball\u2019s playmaking, Kuminga\u2019s revival and McDaniels\u2019 continued growth.<\/p>\n

The Wolves do not need Edwards to carry every possession. Their offseason moves were designed to keep him fresher, free him to attack off the ball and give him more help late in games.<\/p>\n

They still need him to set the tone.<\/p>\n
