Omaha’s Midtown Crossing to recognize Rev. Livingston Wills with bronze statue<\/p>\n

A new statue stands tall in Midtown Crossing, immortalizing Rev. Livingston Wills.<\/p>\n

Wills is affectionately called the “Broom Man.” <\/p>\n

He was a blind man who used to walk the streets selling brooms.<\/p>\n

Sculptor John Lajba said he wanted to not only remember him but remember his impact on the city.<\/p>\n

“I really wanted this to be more about how great people with disabilities are, and what they can do for our city,” Lajba said. <\/p>\n

Wills died in 2008 at the age of 91.<\/p>\n

The statue will be dedicated in his honor at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Turner Park. <\/p>\n
