Escaped emu safely captured by wildlife center volunteers in Lancaster County<\/p>\n

Volunteers at Raven Ridge Wildlife Center in Lancaster County successfully captured an escaped emu on September 2 after it fled its pen during a storm. <\/p>\n

The emu ended up behind the wildlife center, prompting the team to grab nets and large mats to corral the bird. <\/p>\n

The team collaborated with the emu’s owner to ensure the bird remained calm and did not wander into traffic. <\/p>\n

After nearly 30 minutes, the volunteers captured the emu using a large net. The bird dropped to the ground and sat quietly. <\/p>\n

Three volunteers kept the emu secured in the net and lifted it into a wheelbarrow to transport it to the owner’s truck. <\/p>\n
