We have no idea who will be good and who will be bad. How will new coaches impact teams? How will returning injured players show in their first game back?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That makes picking this week&#8217;s games even tougher than other weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I had a good season in 2025, so let&#8217;s see if that can carry over this year. The way I see it, if you can navigate the early weeks and settle in for October and November, you have a chance at a good season.<\/p>\n<p>So let&#8217;s start strong &#8212; even in the face of Week 1 adversity.<\/p>\n<p>All lines via\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/betting\/news\/draftkings-promo-code\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">DraftKings<\/a>; All times ET<\/p>\n<p>New England Patriots at Seattle Seahawks (-3)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Wednesday, 8:20 p.m. on NBC (Stream:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fubo.tv\/welcome\/leagues\/191277?irad=356362&amp;irmp=416484&amp;sharedid=HTW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Fubo<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0&#8212; try for free)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This rematch of the February <a href=\"https:\/\/cbssports.com\/nfl\/superbowl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Super Bowl<\/a> will go much like that game. The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/SEA\/seattle-seahawks\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Seahawks<\/a> will dominate. Opening on the road in this stadium is a tough ask for any team. The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/NE\/new-england-patriots\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Patriots<\/a>&#8216; offense didn&#8217;t play well in the postseason and didn&#8217;t against Seattle in the Super Bowl. That plays out again here. Seattle wins it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick: <\/strong>Seahawks 26, Patriots 14\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/news\/seahawks-patriots-live-updates-score-nfl-week-1\/live\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Follow live updates on Seahawks vs. Patriots<\/a><\/p>\n<p>San Francisco 49ers (+3.5) vs. Los Angeles Rams, in Australia<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Thursday, 8:35 p.m. on Netflix<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/LAR\/los-angeles-rams\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rams<\/a> are the trendy Super Bowl pick by most because of all the stars on the roster. But the <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/SF\/san-francisco-49ers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">49ers<\/a> have stars as well. These two have played a lot of good, close games. This will be no different. The Rams will win it late, but the 49ers will hang around.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick:<\/strong>\u00a0Rams 28, 49ers 27<\/p>\n<p>Atlanta Falcons at Pittsburgh Steelers (-3.5)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sunday, 1 p.m. on Fox (Stream:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fubo.tv\/welcome\/leagues\/191277?irad=356362&amp;irmp=416484&amp;sharedid=HTW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Fubo<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0&#8212; try for free)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/ATL\/atlanta-falcons\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Falcons<\/a> have quarterback issues with <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2741209\/tua-tagovailoa\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tua Tagovailoa<\/a> named the starter. The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/PIT\/pittsburgh-steelers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Steelers<\/a> are trotting out <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/419780\/aaron-rodgers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aaron Rodgers<\/a> for the start of his final season. With the Falcons having their two top pass rushers down, this will be a chance for Rodgers to start the season right. The Pittsburgh defense will do the rest. Steelers take it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick: <\/strong>Steelers 27, Falcons 17<\/p>\n<p>Baltimore Ravens (-3.5) at Indianapolis Colts<\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/BAL\/baltimore-ravens\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ravens<\/a> and first-year coach Jesse Minter face a tough road game to open the season. <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2181169\/lamar-jackson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lamar Jackson<\/a> and the new-look offense will have success here on the fast track. The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/IND\/indianapolis-colts\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Colts<\/a> won&#8217;t be able to match that. Look for a lot of points in this one with Jackson winning it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick: <\/strong>Ravens 34, Colts 27<\/p>\n<p>Buffalo Bills (-1.5) at Houston Texans<\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/BUF\/buffalo-bills\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bills<\/a> have lost the last six meetings in Houston against the <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/HOU\/houston-texans\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texans<\/a>. <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2181054\/josh-allen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Allen<\/a> hasn&#8217;t been himself against that defense either. But this Bills team will be much more aggressive. That will help against that vaunted Houston front. On other side, the Bills will attack <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/3163079\/c-j-stroud\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">C.J. Stroud<\/a>, which will lead to turnovers. The Bills take it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick: <\/strong>Bills 23, Texans 20<\/p>\n<p>Chicago Bears (-3) at Carolina Panthers<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sunday, 1 p.m. on Fox (Stream:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fubo.tv\/welcome\/leagues\/191277?irad=356362&amp;irmp=416484&amp;sharedid=HTW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Fubo<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0&#8212; try for free)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/26695775\/caleb-williams\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Caleb Williams<\/a> and the Chicago offense should be ready to make big strides this season, starting in this one. The problem is the Chicago defense has issues. But I think that defense will play well enough to find a way to win against <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/3161957\/bryce-young\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bryce Young<\/a>. <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/CHI\/chicago-bears\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bears<\/a> take it on the road.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick: <\/strong>Bears 29, <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/CAR\/carolina-panthers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Panthers<\/a> 21<\/p>\n<p>Cleveland Browns at Jacksonville Jaguars (-8.5)<\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/CLE\/cleveland-browns\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Browns<\/a> come to Jacksonville with <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2133482\/deshaun-watson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Deshaun Watson<\/a> as the starting quarterback. That will be an issue against an improved Jacksonville defense. The Cleveland defense should be solid this year, but <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2967185\/trevor-lawrence\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Trevor Lawrence<\/a> and the <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/JAC\/jacksonville-jaguars\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jaguars<\/a>&#8216; passing game should have a big day here. Jaguars big as they get off to a good offensive start.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick: <\/strong>Jaguars 30, Browns 13<\/p>\n<p>New Orleans Saints at Detroit Lions (-7)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sunday, 1 p.m. on Fox (Stream:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fubo.tv\/welcome\/leagues\/191277?irad=356362&amp;irmp=416484&amp;sharedid=HTW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Fubo<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0&#8212; try for free)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/NO\/new-orleans-saints\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Saints<\/a> and second-year quarterback <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2964064\/tyler-shough\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tyler Shough<\/a> will be an improved team this season, but this is a tough way to open. The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/DET\/detroit-lions\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lions<\/a> have a dynamic offense and the venue will make it a challenge. Look for <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2061053\/jared-goff\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jared Goff<\/a> and the Detroit offense to have a big day. The Saints won&#8217;t keep up. Lions big.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick: <\/strong>Lions 33, Saints 21<\/p>\n<p>This game features two teams that need to get off to good starts to try and gain some confidence. The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/NYJ\/new-york-jets\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jets<\/a> will be facing former coach Robert Saleh here. But this game will be about the Jets&#8217; defense against <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/3168422\/cam-ward\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cam Ward<\/a>. I think the Jets&#8217; defense gets the best of him. Jets take it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick: <\/strong>Jets 23, Titans 19<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+3.5) at Cincinnati Bengals<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sunday, 1 p.m. on Fox (Stream:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fubo.tv\/welcome\/leagues\/191277?irad=356362&amp;irmp=416484&amp;sharedid=HTW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Fubo<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0&#8212; try for free)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is a tough road game to open the season for the Bucs. They have some injury issues at receiver that could be in play for <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2080032\/baker-mayfield\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Baker Mayfield<\/a> against an improved <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/CIN\/cincinnati-bengals\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bengals<\/a> defense. <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2179798\/joe-burrow\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joe Burrow<\/a> and the Bengals&#8217; passing game will face an improved Tampa Bay pass rush. In the end, the Bengals will find a way to win a close one.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick: <\/strong>Bengals 29, <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/TB\/tampa-bay-buccaneers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Buccaneers<\/a> 28<\/p>\n<p>Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Chargers (9.5)<\/p>\n<p>The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/LAC\/los-angeles-chargers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chargers<\/a>&#8216; new-look offense under Mike McDaniel will be unleashed here against the <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/ARI\/arizona-cardinals\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cardinals<\/a>. This has the look of a blowout.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick:<\/strong>\u00a0Chargers 31, Cardinals 14<\/p>\n<p>Green Bay Packers (+1.5) at Minnesota Vikings<\/p>\n<p>This will come down to how well the <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/GB\/green-bay-packers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Packers<\/a> handle all those Brian Flores pressure looks on defense for Minnesota. That&#8217;s a challenge on the road. But <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2239997\/jordan-love\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jordan Love<\/a> has been good against the blitz in his career. That matters. The Green Bay defense will manufacture enough pressure &#8212; without <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2967590\/micah-parsons\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Micah Parsons<\/a> &#8212; to slow down <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/2180829\/kyler-murray\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kyler Murray<\/a>. The Eagles had offensive issues last year, but this will be a game to get them going again like the Super Bowl season two years ago. Look for the Eagles to win thanks to the defense.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick:<\/strong>\u00a0Eagles 30, Commanders 21<\/p>\n<p>Dallas Cowboys (-3) at New York Giants<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sunday, 8:20 p.m. on NBC (Stream:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fubo.tv\/welcome\/leagues\/191277?irad=356362&amp;irmp=416484&amp;sharedid=HTW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>Fubo<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0&#8212; try for free)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/DAL\/dallas-cowboys\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cowboys<\/a> have retooled a defense that badly needed it, which will present a tough challenge for <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/players\/26694019\/jaxson-dart\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jaxson Dart<\/a>. On the other side, the Cowboys&#8217; offense should be able to have success against the <a class=\"Annotation-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/teams\/NYG\/new-york-giants\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Giants<\/a>&#8216; defense if they block them. How limited will he be? It won&#8217;t help he&#8217;s facing one of the best defenses in the league. At home, I think they do it.
