(The committee is distinct from Save NYC, a committee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityandstateny.com\/politics\/2025\/07\/former-lg-betsy-mccaughey-and-former-nypd-commish-ray-kelly-launch-anti-mamdani-ie\/406711\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">formed by<\/a> Betsy McCaughey and Ray Kelly to oppose Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani.)<\/p>\n<p>Srugo\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/selling-the-city-s-eleonora-srugo-speaks-out-about-rumors-she-s-dating-nyc-mayor-eric-adams-8779834\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">friendship<\/a> with Adams has drawn attention as rumors have circulated that the two were dating, which she has <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/01\/23\/celebrity-news\/selling-the-city-star-eleonora-srugo-details-mayor-eric-adams-friendship-amid-dating-rumors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dismissed<\/a>. She\u2019s often shared her appreciation for the mayor on social media, <a href=\"https:\/\/tableofsuccess.hellgatenyc.com\/eleonora-srugo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posing with<\/a> Adams in Instagram posts at events they\u2019ve both attended.<\/p>\n<p>Srugo previously donated $10 to Adams\u2019 reelection campaign \u2013\u00a0one day before the June primary, which Adams sat out.\u00a0Forming an IE isn\u2019t something she \u201cever imagined\u201d doing, she told City &amp; State. But to her, this race is different. \u201cI think this election is incredibly consequential for the future of New York City \u2013 these issues that are deeply personal to me, and I don&#8217;t think that the alternative candidates are particularly qualified for the job.\u201d\u00a0As for how much she plans to fundraise for the IE and how, Srugo said via text, \u201cNo clue,\u201d with a smiley face emoji.<\/p>\n<p>As for why she formed the PAC in support of Adams in particular, Srugo said, \u201cI think that for the most part, in the first term of his mayoralty, he was primarily playing defense. I think we had an unprecedented migrant crisis. I think he sort of stopped the bleeding in terms of preventing the trends that we were going towards with crime, homelessness, cleanliness, and also just a lot of cleanup to do in a post-pandemic New York.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added, \u201cI&#8217;d like to see him get a fair shot at pushing forth new initiatives and sort of leaving a real legacy in a second term.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Notably, the filing does not list her employer as Douglas Elliman, but Kosher Nostra LLC, her LLC she says she\u2019s had \u201cfor years.\u201d Srugo, who was born in Israel, said the name is an allusion to the Jewish mafia of the late 19th century and 20th century (\u201cI got it from a book called \u2018Tough Jews\u2019 that I read and loved in high school, and I&#8217;ve just always liked it,\u201d she said. \u201cIt&#8217;s just, like, my little nod to a book and a story and a part of New York City history that resonates with me as a Jewish immigrant\u201d).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The IE\u2019s formation comes as real estate and business leaders have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/07\/30\/nyregion\/mamdani-opposition-donors-mayor.html?oref=csny_firstread_nl&amp;utm_source=Sailthru&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=CSNY%20First%20Read%20-%20July%2030%2C%202025&amp;utm_term=newsletter_csny_firstread\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">begun to organize<\/a> out of fear of what a potential Mamdani mayoralty could mean for them, with some projecting heavy spending against the democratic socialist. Mamdani has attempted to put concerns to rest, with Partnership for New York City CEO and President Kathryn Wylde facilitating meetings between the Democratic nominee and city business leaders.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Adams, meanwhile, has transitioned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityandstateny.com\/politics\/2025\/07\/zohran-mamdani-eric-adams-different-kind-rival\/406639\/?oref=csny-category-lander-river\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">full campaign mode<\/a> since the primary. Outside spending would come in handy for Adams, who has continually been denied public matching funds by the city\u2019s Campaign Finance Board.
