\n\tMeta<\/a> posted nice numbers for the June quarter with revenue surging 22% to $47.5 billion and net income up 36% to $18.3 billion. Earnings<\/a> per share of $7.14 was also beat Wall Street\u2019s expectations, as did daily active users rose to 3.48 billion.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019ve had a strong quarter both in terms of our business and community,\u201d said\u00a0Mark Zuckerberg, Meta founder and CEO. \u201cI\u2019m excited to build personal superintelligence<\/a> for everyone in the world.\u201d He elaborated on that concept in a somewhat alarming manifesto published earlier today <\/a>on superintelligence \u2014 which he said Meta will use for the common good, unlike its rivals.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMeta\u2019s vision is to bring personal superintelligence to everyone. We believe in putting this power in people\u2019s hands to direct it towards what they value in their own lives,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThis is distinct from others in the industry who believe superintelligence should be directed centrally towards automating all valuable work, and then humanity will live on a dole of its output.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tMeta shares popped by more than 10% after hours on the earnings, and after closing the day lower.<\/p>\n

\n\tAI<\/a> is consuming tech stocks as well as investments in AI, which are so hefty that investor have started to worry. Meta moderated its 2025 capital expenditure estimate a bit towards the lower end \u2014 which pleased Wall Street \u2014 to $62 billion-$74 billion vs the previous $64-$72 billion. The company is spending millions to hire top talent and said 2026 costs could accelerate.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe company expects third quarter 2025 total revenue to be in the range of\u00a0$47.5-$50.5 billion.<\/p>\n

\n\tZuckerberg will host a call with analysts at 5 PT to discuss the numbers and more of his \u201csuperintelligence\u201d observations from earlier, when he wrote: \u201cAt Meta, we believe that people pursuing their individual aspirations is how we have always made progress expanding prosperity, science, health, and culture. This will be increasingly important in the future as well.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe believe the benefits of superintelligence should be shared with the world as broadly as possible. That said, superintelligence will raise novel safety concerns. We\u2019ll need to be rigorous about mitigating these risks and careful about what we choose to open source,\u201d he cautioned.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cStill, we believe that building a free society requires that we aim to empower people as much as possible. The rest of this decade seems likely to be the decisive period for determining the path this technology will take, and whether superintelligence will be a tool for personal empowerment or a force focused on replacing large swaths of society.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNothing was really clear in what he said except that he believes change is coming fast.
