Designed on the cusp of the 1980s, Joseph D’Urso’s Occasional Table<\/a> perfectly expressed the designer’s penchant for melding the industrial with the minimal. The welded steel table appeared visually light thanks to its proportions, and the table seemed to float on its hidden casters.<\/p>\n

I believe the table disappeared sometime in the 2000’s, but can’t confirm the exact date it was discontinued; nevertheless, Knoll has thankfully decided to bring the piece back. It’s now offered in the same three sizes as it was in the ’80s: Small (14.5″ H \u00d7 22″ W \u00d7 22″ D), Medium (16″ H \u00d7 27″ W \u00d7 27″ D) and Large (14.5″ H \u00d7 48″ W \u00d7 48″ D), and in three colors: Black, Crimson or Stainless.<\/p>\n

The glass top is also offered in three options: Clear, black or wired, and I think the latter looks the best.<\/p>\n

The new pieces run from $1,600 to $4,800; versions on vintage sites run into the five figures.<\/p>\n
